Bankroll requirements
 

Hey guys, I hope this isn't too small for this forum, when I searched for 2-5 I ended up here. I am mostly a limit hold em player has been playing more and more no limit. I play mostly live, and I am moving to Las Vegas sometime in the near future. My plan was to go with 6-8,000 and play 10-20. Obviously this gives just enough for a bankroll, I will have much more cash for expenses, per Ed Miller's advice.

My question is...rather than 300-500bb (depending on who you ask), what is a standard NL bankroll? I plan on playing mostly at the 2-5 at the Bellagio since this seems to be a very easy game. Does the $200 only buy-in change the bankroll requirements? I am looking only for bankroll monetary advice, since, as I said, I'll use Ed Miller's advice on expenses. Thanks a lot experts!

6-8k should be fine for the bellagio game me thinks.

if you plan on playing at the wynn 5-5 game though, you will need much more unless you buy in real short.

standard BR's are 20-40 buy ins, but that is for online games.i wouldnt think you need as many for live games, but it all depends on the structure.

20-40 buy ins? cool. Thanks a lot. I honestly feel so ignorant about this. I haven't seen it anywhere. Although I'm sure if I wasn't such an idiot I could find the answer on search much more easily. Thanks for the time.

That is plenty for the Bellagio 2-5, especially because of the peculiar structure of that game. Most here advocate at least 20 buy-ins, but I think 10-15 is enough for NL cash games up to 2-5 because the games are generally pretty passive and quite soft.

That Bellagio 2-5 game is a joke. I would feel comfortable having a bankroll of $600 for that game.

I recommned you play in that game for while and then build you BR up.

It depends how long you plan on playing.
If you plan on playing a few hours, a 20 buyin bankroll is excessive. If you plan on playing a year, a 20-30 buy-in bankroll is probably right.

Depends on how long you're there, the bellagio game is HORRIBLE!!!, for a week, I would take 2,000 for a month maybe 3,200 for a year I would take 7,000

I don't think there's a need to bring your entire roll on a trip to Vegas. Bring a few buy-ins. If you drop 20 buy-ins in a week at Vegas, you're probably not playing very well.

NEVER EVER TAKE YOUR WHOLE ROLL TO VEGAS. EVER. NEVER EVER. NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER.

10-20 limit is not spread at Bellagio. 15-30 is, and i reccomend bringing 4K if you're going to be there for more than a few days. If you drop 4K, you should study up on your game.


3K is plenty for the 2-5.

Follow-up Question: Winrate
 

What would be a reasonable winrate for a 2-5NL game like the Bellagio spreads? Assuming 30 hands per hour, would 20/hr be doable as this is 3 extra rounds of the blinds per hour, or once per rotation?
