1/2 vs 2/4

Is there a big difference in the skill of the players from 1/2 to 2/4? If I am a new player and have the roll for 2/4 should I jump into that or should I get comfortable with 1/2 or .5/1 first?

I notice a difference. Might not be a big difference, but I think it' there. In 2/4 people are more likely to, say, fold a small pair to a re-raise on 3rd, or fold 5th with a dead 4 flush.

Yea, it's a small difference but if your winning a decent amount at 1/2, 2/4 shouldn't be to bad for you.

I've noticed that the reading of hands (and deception) for a few players gets a little tricky in $2/$4, but it's not to the point that it's a bankroll killer or anything. In $1/$2, I seemed to be pretty close guessing the hand I was up against by the actions the player made, but a few times this week alone, I've run into big hands that I just never saw coming.

I also noticed Roland posting a $2/$4 hand for discussion on the forum today. I guess we have to be cautious who we are up against at times. Every now and then, those of us in the small stakes could get a surprise vistor from the higher limit players.

I found draw hands went up in value and big pairs dropped going from 2/4 to 1/2 since NOBODY folds in 1/2. Kings up won't hold up well with 7 players to the river.

Oh well, on the other hand, when your kings up hold up against seven players, then you win seven times as much, as when it's heads up

Still ... the swings are annoying ... no denying that
