Getting a crush while in a serious relationship

Guys and Gals -

I don't post a lot here but I hear that this OOT place is a wealth of information

For those of you who are in serious relationships (like, say, roughly more than 8 months give or take)...do you or your significant other (husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, goat, etc) ever get crushes on somebody new?

Let me clarify...not the urge to cheat at all, but more than 's/he's cute'.

Is getting a crush 'okay', and would you tell your significant other?

Thanks a lot guys,

Everyone gets crushes. As long as you don't act on them then it is totally fine.

And no reason to tell anyone. You just get people jealous for no reason.

hum,
I have been with my girlfriend for about a year and a half. I have probably had 1 or 2 "crushes" in that time (other than her of course). I have never acted on them!
Also, walking down the street and seeing a hot chick and saying, "Man, I'd hit that", doesn't count

My last long term relationship was over 4 years and I had "crushes" on other girls

i understand exactly what kind of crush you are talking about. i have never acted on it either. i definitely have "fallen in love" (as i put it) with many girls while i have been in this relationship.

Who's the person who voted a legit answer in the first question but then voted to just see the results in the second question? The fact that you won't even tell us if you'd tell your significant other means you probably wouldn't tell, vote no.

For the record I voted yes to both. How good of a mate can someone be if you can't even tell them the truth? I'd expect the same from her as well.

I agree with this sentiment.

I get the occasional crush, and I tell my girlfriend of 2 years about it. It's a non-issue. She knows I'm in love with her and won't fool around behind her back.

Well, she has recently developed a crush on a coworker, and has told me about it, but she's afraid that it bothers me. I'm trying to explain to her that it's normal, and it looks like this poll agrees with that. The only part that seems abnormal is that we are willing to discuss this with each other.

But to me, it seems like talking about it is far superior to not talking about it.
