Guess the lowest integer
 

Just entered a competition where everyone (field = 300) secretly selects an integer and writes it on a piece of paper.

The lowest unique integer wins.

What's your play?

This is probably more appropriate in the psychology forum. Personally I would guess somewhere in the 7-9 range with 300 people playing.

I disagree with you. It has got a psychological component to it but this is a mathematical/game theory problem... It may however be more appropriate in the science, math and philosophy forum... but I just didn't want this to turn into a religious debate [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

I'm sure it's a topic that would interest the people who post in this forum more than anyone else.

I would definitely not pick a number 1-9 as those are sure losers, and would not a pick a number above 151 because the winner will be less than that.

Intuitively I would pick something in the 20's-40's, so I will make my guess 29.
