I wonder how someone learns how to do that. It seems like it would have an extremely steep learning curve.

This is called Le Parkour or Freerunning. This guy is obviously very good.

EDIT: Very good is an understatement...Also, this guy has obviously spent lots and lots of time doing this. He's also spent plenty of time on each obstacle obviously.

I don't see anything going on in this video that the average gymnast couldn't do with enough practice. Sure, a lot of the things they do look cool, but nothing is worthy of a comparison to Spiderman. Very few of those jumps would be life threatening when failed.
