Las Vegas Local Players - Regular \"perks\"?

I was talking to some of the locals in Vegas the last time I was there and they were telling me that the Luxor has a weekly freeroll, and 2 weekly invitation only tourneys that you have to play 15 hours a week to get an invite to. They were apparently free with nice overlays at around $250 per person.

For anyone else who is a regular/local to vegas. Where are the places with the best financial "perks". I know the Orleans gets a lot of locals, but I think it is only for the bad beat jackpot. Any others? Where would you play if you lived in vegas?

Palace Station. Good jackpots, and they give $1.00 per hour back in comps.

Pipster, lots of Vegas poker rooms have deals for locals like Luxor, but Luxor is among the best. The big issue is you have to play 15 hours per week there to qualify, not including tourney time of course. 14 hours gets you a big thank you.

Luxor has been voted best poker room in Vegas for locals, by readers of the LV Review Journal, many times because of these freerolls. Stardust has a pretty good freeroll also, but most other poker rooms just give back comp dollars, usually around $1 per hour.

What's the perks of locals at the mirage. Everytime I've played there, there have been 2-4 locals @ the table ($500 NL) that are pretty talkative with the dealers.

BTW - just cause they're locals, doesn't mean they're winners

The perks at the Mirage are the fish. Plain and simple.

I haven't played much in LV in the past few years but my guess is the worst action games are the places with the most perks that tend to cater to locals and the best action games are the cardrooms with the fewest perks that tend to cater to locals.

Rick, I've played in most rooms in this town and I'm sure Howard would agree with you here as well. You are 100% right.

I agree. People should worry more about how good the games are and less about the perks. Perks, schmerks, better games make up for a lousy buck an hour in comps any day. Anything beyond that is just fluff. And luxor majorly sucks, it's not worth it to deal with that hole for their freerolls.

I agree completely with Al on this one. The Luxor can bite me.

Most of the "older" locals like that buck an hour. Thats why they sit there and play no hands all day, yet the ones they do place....well they Fck those up pretty much 100% of the time.

The younger locals are out there gambling it up and learning about the games now. Most of the guys I know will go to various places depending on whats convenient or they feel like at the time.

I played at Luxor during this tournament this weekend - most wins during a 3 hour period. The better players in this tournament loosen way up shooting for wins - playing tight aggressive yields $$$ - up $250. Lots of local grumbling about my raising. Full trip report to follow later.
