No, I haven't been playing that long, less than 1 year. I realize worse beats can be had, but not much. I suppose someone hitting the one last out in the deck on the river to win would constitute a worse beat than this.

Runners are less likely, like having your boat flipped, or running anythings for quads.

John Shipley cuts Phil Ivey down in 2002 WSOP Main Event Day 3

For those that recall the Big One in 2002, a man named John Shipley from England came to the final table with most of the chips (we won’t mention what happened to those chips). He didn’t get there, however, without someone taking an enormous bad beat… and the unlucky recipient was young superstar Phil Ivey.

With less than 100 players left, Shipley and Ivey see a flop of A-3-x. They both put in over 130k in chips each, and John is all-in.

Ivey shows pocket 3s for trips
Shipley turns over AK for a big pair of aces.

At this point Ivey is a 50 to 1 favorite to win. The turn brings another ace, giving Shipley trip aces but Ivey a full house. Finally, the river brings the last ace in the deck giving John quads. Phil Ivey never fully recovers from this and finishes 23rd, while Shipley continues his roll to the final table.

Happened in an AP tourney.
Me-SB with Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Villain-A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Action doesn't get raised for some reason pre flop, so I call the blind and BB checks.
Flop is K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
I check, MP bets, villain raises all in, I quickly call all in, everyone else folds.
Turn: K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] River :A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I could do nothing as my 97% to win evaporates and my tourney hopes are gone. It was still early on so I needed chips and was going against the table chip leader. Worst beat to date for me.

i would make fun of you like all the rest, but i respect your long and illustrious posting career here at 2p2. Sorry about the beat man, but like just remember the advice you gave that guy in the thread from a couple of days ago.

peace

Yeah that running aces beat is bad, although he did have king outs too (ace + king or king+king)... the worst possible badbeat is set vs (lower)PP and running quads, no? I've experienced it once... although ofcourse not in as important hand as your example
