I met a girl at the airport when I was waiting for a plane that I had misbooked and thus had to kill a lot of time. I met her on the shuttle between terminals. She had just got back from Thailand and didn't mention the whores at all.

She did go on about the great massages though. She ended up staying 2 weeks longer than she intended because she was having such a great time.

I haven't been since the Tsunami, but I lived there for 18 months between 2002 and 2004. Can tell you tons of tips on places to go, but some of them might not be quite as accessible due to the Tsunami.

No need to get immediately out of BKK. Plenty to do there to fill several days. Wat Po, Grand Palace & Wat Pra Keo. Vimanmek Mansion is cool. Take a river cruise up to Ayutaya. Great nightlife and food.

Not in Thailand but close by and IMO not to be missed is Angor Wat. Fly from BKK to Siem Reap (Cambodia). If you are into history and enjoy ancient sites/temples this blows away anything Thailand has. Worth a couple days.

I prefer Krabi to Phuket. Both nice beach resorts and enjoyable. Krabi is more picturesque IMO.

Stay out of the extreme south. Some nasty situations with the muslims down there.

there are alot of prostitutes in thailand. no they arent underaged.

yes, it does get old after awhile to have to see 250lb middle aged guys with bride-of-frankenstein looking chicks.

there is a joke, that men dont come to thailand to eff prostitutes, they come here to date/marry them. however, you can easily avoid the areas where it is blown out of proportion.

i am actually pretty bored of thailand to be honest. too many tourists.
