Straight Flush draw after flop.. Guy got mad at me for my play.

Last night I'm playing in a tourney. This guy was bullying around the whole table. I had T1700 chips left, and the avg stack was about 3500. Im the BB. SB (bully) raises to 400. I have 78d, so I call. Flop 5d6dAc. Guy bets 400, and I go all in (which i think is the right move with all the outs and I'm really shortstacked). He calls w/ A5. Turn is a blank and the river is a 9 for my straight. The guy wouldn't stop talking about how bad my play was. What do you think? I had a boatload of outs and 2 draws to get it.

I like the play

flop play is fine. Preflop, what were the blinds? If you were facing more than a minraise, this is probably a fold.

Normally I would fold the 78d but the bully kept buying the pots and showing K4 and stuff. The blinds were 100/200 25ante.

flop was fine, preflop 78s is bullyable and you should fold to any raise (except for a minraise with tons of callers).

You might not know this, but not only was your flop play right, you had every reason to think that you were ahead.

In the actual hand, he was only a 51-53% favorite (depending on whether or not he had the Ad). If he had something like AdKc, you'd be a 53% favorite.

In summary, you made a fine play, and he is probably a fish.

Edit: But yes, folding preflop was probably the correct play.

Your play was fine. You have to at least occassionally take a stand against a bully.

You were better than even to hit your straight or flush. 16 outs with 2 to go (0.75:1). So of course your play was correct.

But trying to explain that to most people is a waste of time.

No, no no no no.

Reraising all-in is a possibility, calling (at least) is mandatory.

I agree this guy is a fish.

If you are going to play this against a bully, I would push preflop. If you call off almost 1/4 of your stack and then miss the flop, you're going to have to fold and you will be pretty crippled. If you push preflop though, there is a good chance he will fold, and if he doesn't then you have a decent shot at doubling up.

But since you called the raise preflop, you have to push on the flop.
