Graphing in Excel - Making the x-axis to scale???

Hey,

Is there any way to make the x-axis be to scale in Excel? If not, what program can I use? I just have a bunch of data points (x,y) and want to graph them.

Thanks,

Steve

Not exactly sure what you're trying to do here...

If it's what I think just place the number in two columns like this.

x y
3 4
4 5
6 5
7 6
8 -10

Select both column and click on the graph tool in excel...you'll get to pick the graph you want. It will graph both with default options, just select the line you don't want and delete it.

I gave up trying to get Excel graphs to look pretty. It's a very lame graphing program IMHO. But, I haven't found anything better. I've got a project plan coming up so maybe i'll try open office or staroffice this time.

You probably chose Line Chart as your chart type. You want an XY (Scatter) instead. You can either tell it to have the points just floating or connected by lines (it'll connect them in the order the data is in).
