Stars - More and more players

A couple weeks ago I was amazed at how quickly new players were flocking to Stars. Had 4,500 players or so on a regular Thursday night as opposed to their regular numbers of 1500-2000.
Now, on this particular Thursday there are 7000 players online.
Still not the softest games in the world but definately improving.
I've had several observers randomly ask at tables how they purchase chips or fund an account or buy mnore chips....basic beginner stuff. a couple players who have said they would not be there at all were it not for ESPN (and the hour-long Moneymaker advertisement).

I think it should also be noted that Stars has had very few server problems to my knowledge during this period of rapid expansion.
Combine that with thew 50K free-roll and the really cool Moneymaker vs. Farha idea and I believe Stars deserves some hearty congrats. But, of course, it's the slightly fishier conditions I like the most!!

(even though I'm down $190 today...a good chunk of that coming when my flopped trip K's succumbed to a 43o in EP rivered straight.....hmmmmph).

Re: Stars - More and more players

Does Stars still have the deposit bonus going, and if so, is it able to be cleared reasonably fast through tourneys rather than ring games?

no bonus currently....but they run them about every two months or so typically so you may want to wait for the next one to come along. OR....perhaps you could e-mail stars and ask for a 20% bonus.....worth a shot at support@pokerstars.

most recent Stars bonuses....
late April (celebrating Moneymaker WSOP championship)
4th of July weekend
early August (promoting their world championship of online poker tourneys)

i don't think they had one over memorial-weekend in late May but I might hve forgotten.
