Funny O\'Reilly Moment

Heard this on Franken's show. Pretty funny.

When interview one of the Swift Boat Veterans For Truth, O'Reilly discussed his credentials as follows:

[ QUOTE ]
You volunteered for two tours of duty, so you're a patriot. There's no question about that. You're a Purple Heart recipient...

[/ QUOTE ]

Anyone else spot the irony of saying a swifty is a patriot because he volunteered for service and was a recipient of a purple heart?

Not really.....Did Bill O'Reilly say John Kerry was not patriotic?

If you can show me a quote where Bill said John Kerry was not patriotic, then I will concede your point. But...I don't think such a quote exists....

Re: Funny O\'Reilly Moment

So the swifties go to great lengths to discredit Kerry's service. They attack whether he deserved his purple heartss (note that they obviously don't believe the existence of a medal or voluntary service made Kerry a patriot.)

Now, evidence of one of their member's patriotism is, you guessed it: voluntary service and purple heart.

I guess your irony detector isn't as strong as mine.

Did he say this vet got his Purple Heart for minor scratches?

If not, then it is not comparable.

Did this vet turn against the common soldier when he returned to the states?

If not, then it is not comparable.

Didn't say it was comparable. I said it was ironic.

I understand that, but I wanted to make the point that this Vet and John Kerry are not in the same league.

I didn't know anyone listened to Al Franken's radio show.

I use to listen to Alan Colmes, but he started becoming less logical and more emotional about 4 months before the election. It is a shame for he was one of the few liberals who were able to make a well reasoned argument...

Not only that there is zero irony involved. Perhaps a definition might be in order. Hint: For even a smidgen of irony the Swift boat veteran would need to be the one claiming to be a patriot (using the specified criteria) not Bill O'Reilly by proxy.
