extracting maximum value: rate my play
 

pacific NL$25 which has flop% of 40-65.
big blind is 0.25, and it's 8 handed, im in late position.


Preflop: Hero is late with A, K.
2 folds, MP2 calls, Hero raises to $1.50, 2 folds, 2 calls

Flop: ($4.45) A, 5, K, and 2 clubs (3 players)
2 checks, i bet 8XBB, 2 calls

Turn: ($10.25) 6 (3 players)
first player bets 4XBB, 1 call, i raise to 14XBB, 1 calls, one folds.

River: ($17.85) 8 and no flush possibility (2 players)
one check, i bet 28XBB the other guy folds.

here's my thinking, i think he might have called the flop with a flush draw, but then his turn bet confuses me. i think he might have made a small pair on the flop, and then made it 2 on the turn, so that's why i bet the river big. i don't know what villain could have, and i need to learn how to extract maximum value from hands like these.

Flop, I'd bet $3 instead of $2, but $2 isn't bad.

Turn is ugly ugly ugly. I mean, the flush draw is getting correct odds to call!

This is where your hand makes the bulk of its money against all the hands you beat. The one dollar bet is often a flush draw trying to confuse and slow you down. Make it no less than $7 here, maybe as much as 10-12 if you suspect he's loose enough to go for it.
