Best $50+5 Players...
Which players do you guys tend to avoid at the $50+5 level on Party?

Which best players do you guys tend to avoid at the $50+5 level on Party? [/ QUOTE ] It is stupid to "avoid" players. A better thing to do would be to figure out how to adapt to different styles (some of them very good in a vacuum) in different positions relative to you. |
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
I disagree that it's stupid to avoid players. Obviously, one would rather play a total donk than Phil Ivey.
|
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
The concentration of "good" players isn't high enough to make the effort of avoiding players worth it at the 55's. Anyone who's any good is either
a) playing a higher limit or b) 3249637892q113243278786-tabling and playing predictably. |
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
So who do you think are the best $50+5 players, Slim?
|
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
I don't even avoid people at the $109s. Seat selection is more important than table selection IMHO.

Re: Best $50+5 Players...
Depends on the player.
|
Re: Best $50+5 Players...

Depends on the player. [/ QUOTE ] How about: A) VPiP 11%, PFR 6% B) VPIP 28%, PFR 16% C) VPIP 55%, PFR 3% |
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
Well it's hard to say. I mean some 11%/6%'s are very passive and fold their blinds to you - others understand ICM and all that and push a lot.. 28%/16% generally try to be somewhere on their right, but not right next to them.. 55%/3% somewhere to their left, but it depends on if they are lovers of the "reverse gap concept" and limp then call a push from their sb with A4o, etc
There are no hard and fast answers.. also you won't see many 55%/3% more than once, they tend to disappear.. |

So who do you think are the best $50+5 players, Slim? [/ QUOTE ] Other than me of course... Anyone who is a regular and doesn't obviously suck (and they're easy to spot even after as few as 100 tournaments) can be considered a "good" player. Eh, they're all just players. They do stuff. You do stuff back. The stuff you do depends on the stuff they do, and so on. I won't purposely sit to the left of anyone I think understands proper bubble play. Other than that, any seat will do. |
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
"No one is good. They're all just players..."
Wow. |

"No one is good. They're all just players..." Wow. [/ QUOTE ] 1) I don't think that's what I said, and I promise you that's not what I meant. 2) People get so wrapped up in trying to control every aspect of a game where 98% of the short-term success and 80% of the "long-term" success is the result of random chance. Most of the rest of that 20% you can control doesn't have a thing to do with table selection, so your effort is better spent elsewhere. |

Re: Best $50+5 Players...
Yeah, so... back to the point of this thread...
Who do you think are top $50+5 players on Party? |
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
It's hard to say. I run into the guys who are at the top of the leaderboard a lot, but they don't even seem that good.
Some who I would say are solid are XxTabiasxX, ShipItHolla, and ThaCaumFlipa. But as was said in this thread, I don't really fear the massive multitablers. I just know if they show strength early in the tourney to run and sometimes try to be more aggro against them on the bubble b/c they prob have tighter calling ranges and can't follow along as easily. |
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
I don't understand the point of this thread. If you played any amount of $55's you will find out very quickly who the best players are. Like someone said earlier if you played 100 you would have a decent list.
|
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
XxTabiasXx is a 2p2'er - and one who has played the $215s before, so that's no surprise; ShipItHolla can often be found in the $109s as well, and yeah, he's decent.
|
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
its really hard to stay away from tables when its late at nite or early in the mourning....i play with so many multi-tablers....XxTabiasXx, rsu_27, black_jak111....those are some of the names that pop up in my mind....but for the most part there are still players with many leaks...
|
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
I avoid a couple of them. Not gonna say who. I try to maximize the dead money on the table.

[/ QUOTE ] I know what you mean, but I would hella hella rather play Phil Ivey than some donk. As for the debate, if you are a pro and you feel your game is really solid I can see avoiding good players. If you are working on your game, I would go with what Slim said and work on adjusting to them. |

Re: Best $50+5 Players...
No I don't believe it's raptor.
|
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
It's bonafone I believe.
|
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
There's also a SHIP_IT_FISH. But he's not very good.

Re: Best $50+5 Players...
shipitholla is raptor's friend and is only mediocre...

Re: Best $50+5 Players...

shipitholla is raptor's friend and is only mediocre... [/ QUOTE ] hes def better than mediocre. he might not be able to beat step 4 highers for very much, but he sure as hell can pwn the 55s and 109s. and for the record so there is no confusion, its bonafone. holla |
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
I just wanted to let everyone know that i have changed my mind about playing 150 $55s a day all month. Pwning the leaderboard, which I am 100% sure I could do, would be nice, but I would rather play $215s whenever I feel like it and relearn to pwn good, or at least better, people. Also, I want poker to be enjoyable and when 10 tabling $55s, it isnt at all. In fact, it sucks. So, I am going to be 8 tabling $215s whenever I feel like it and I will see where I go from there.
Also, shipitholla is the nuts!!! |

Re: Best $50+5 Players...
Yeah... you seemed a little on edge at the 55's... plus that makes one less player I have to not put two-four seats to my right. gl

Re: Best $50+5 Players...
Fret not bona, I've played you, and I think you're pretty good.
|
Re: Best $50+5 Players...
Raptor, tell your buddy to quit calling all-ins from his BB with weak aces and low pocket pairs. He keeps calling me with these types of hands and he's hurting both of us. If his goal is to get me to stop raising his blinds, it won't work.
