Correct play or a waste of time?

I was playing at a 2-4 limit table the other night when I was involved in a hand with 2 other players. After the river was dealt the board had Quad 7's and a Q. I was on the button with AJo and the guy acting first bet, the second player folded and I raised. The guy who bet first got mad and said that my raise was stupid and a waste of time sinse it was obvious that we both had Aces and would split the pot.

I thought it was the correct play because I was not risking anything by raising and could only gain an extra bet if he did not have an Ace.

The only waste of time I could see about that play was waiting for him to finish his minute long inane rant.

Would any of you just called in that spot?

I always just call on river when I have the nuts.

I'd nicely tell him to chill out, and then i'd beat his ass. No seriosuly, you should definitly raise there.

And if the rake was not already capped, he's an idiot for not 3-betting you.

We had a bizarre one in a 3/6 game at the casino. The board had quad 9s and an ace. Three people in at the river. One woman bet, next player raised, third player re-raised, then the original bettor folded. (!)

Never hurts to bet in that situation (unless you think he has 3 queens in the hole).

How is it obvious that you both have aces? Keep raising until you can't anymore. More than once I've pushed people off a multi-way split just because they don't know any better. I don't mind charging them for a poker lesson.

You obviously have the nuts here. Quads on board with a Q, and you have an ace, clearly you have the hand won, if not a split pot. Raise and keep raising until you can't raise any more. The only real question is- how did you hang around with AJ if there was 2 or 3 7 on the board after the flop?
