Playing a draw aggressive against a Preflop raiser

Read on the MP2 was that he had really poor raising standards...

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (8 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, Hero calls, MP2 raises, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB calls, Hero calls.

Flop: (6.50 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets ???

Why didn't you raise PF?

Since you didn't, I'd c/r the flop.

P.S. Don't let sthief read this

Bad bet when you have the opportunity to trap the ENTIRE field for more than one bet. Check the the raisor and raise if two or more players come along. This is a raise for value rather than what you did was bet hoping the PF would protect your hand or clean up outs.

Your hand doesn't need protection or outs cleaned up, it needs chips in the pot.

This is a textbook spot for a check-raise. You've got a gutshot, a possible overcard (maybe not good), and a flush draw for 14 outs (discounted your overcard quite a bit). You want to build this pot, not force out the BB.

Raise preflop.

As it is, you now have a clear checkraise on the flop given your position relative to the preflop raiser. Betting thins the field, which you don't want, since you'd rather play this big draw multi-way for multiple bets, not 2 or 3 ways for 2 bets.

You check, he bets, everyone calls, you raise, he may or may not 3-bet, everyone probably calls anyway, you cap, it'll be great.

This just struck me as funny since the entire field between hero and pf raiser is the BB. With that said, I completely agree with the intention of your post.

Raise pf.

Check-raise the flop, and put in as many bets as you can here since you are nearly (1.2:1) even money to complete one of you nut draws.
