Vegas 5/10nl
 

I know this is a silly question and the answer is, "it depends," but in general how much of a step up is 5/10nl from 2/5nl? I've played lots of 1/2nl and a decent amount of 2/5nl and 5/5nl and I beat both comfortably.

Let me try phrasing it this way. Is the step up from 2/5nl to 5/10nl bigger or smaller than the step up from 1/2nl to 2/5nl?

Also, which vegas casinos regularly spread 5/10nl besides Bellagio? Which games are capped/uncapped?

take it from someone who has just moved up...very big step.

Players are much more aggro and laggy and bluff rate is a lot higher.

With that being said, don't sit with less than 2K at any 5/10NL game in vegas but you should really have ~5K in front of you.

MGM and Wynn generally spread it on weekends and sometimes on weekdays. Neither has a cap on the buy-in. I would say that 5/10 is a big step up from 2/5. Most people buy in for a grand; buying in for 5k is only necessary if you want to cover most/everyone at the table.

true, but in Vegas everyone likes to sit behind huge stacks. Last time I was there someone bought in for 10K into the 5/10NL game just to act like a bigshot I guess.

its a very big step up (bigger imo than from 1/2 NL to 2/5 NL) The 2/5 NL games in Vegas are still pretty fishy.. the 5/10 NL games in Vegas are shark-infested, espically at the Wynn.. be careful.. you will have to take your game to the next level to compete there.

as others have mentioned, 5/10 is usually a bit tougher than 2/5.....not always though - there are times when the game is really roaring at the Wynn and there are some fish....generally speaking though, everyone at the 5/10 game usually understands how to play the game whereas at 2/5 you'll often get the total morons......the Bellagio doesn't spread a 5/10 so far as I know.....the Wynn is the only place that spreads 5/10 regularly (all their NL games are uncapped), but sometimes the MGM gets one going (which I believe is also uncapped) and I've heard the Palms sometimes gets some kind of capped 5/10 action but I don't really know about that for sure......

This is from someone who is nowhere near these stakes (yet) so i could be wrong, but wouldn't this make sitting with $500 or so and playing super tight, almost short stack strategy pretty profitable?

Plus, if you are thinking of moving up, this might be more comfortable a transition

You know, a drunk guy sitting next to me at this 4-8 game I play was babbling about how he lost 2600 on some kind of capped NL game at the Palms. I didnt believe him because it sounds silly.

Does anybody have experience playing online NL micro limits then playing live 1-2 NL? I was watching a game and there were several people with 500+ in front of them in a 200 max buyin game.

I regularly play NL25 and NL50, also Omaha hi/lo PL100 and PL200 online

the NL100 and NL200 games i've played in live are rediculously easier than any of theses.

often you'll get 6-8 limpers, giving you great implied odds, and the raises are in the $10-$20 range, meaning when you grab a premium hand, you can get all in on the flop fairly easy with a big advantage. People will push with non nut flush draws, go to the felt with top pair medium kicker, casino low no limit is great!

In my experience 5-10 games can be good but are not nearly as dependable as 2-5. It pretty much any 2-5 table there will be a few total morons, whereas almost all 5-10 players make you work for it at least. If going to vegas, I would encourage you to give the Bellagio 10-20 a shot. Buy in short and take advantage of the very high level of aggression that is exhibited in this game.
