Good Taj stories?

Just got back from only my second trip to AC (and only second time playing live). First trip, I played only Borgata and the Trop. This time I stopped by the Taj, and wound up playing about 20 hours of 5/10 there Tuesday and Wednesday. I've got to say I had more fun there than either of the other two places. The characters at the Taj are something else, and while you're waiting an hour for a decent hand to play, it's really the people around you who are keeping you entertained, rather than the game, at least for me.

For example, I don't see any of these things happening at the Borgata.

1) 3am Wednesday morning, a middle aged Asian lady who's been hanging around for a few hours comes over to my table and starts feeling the head of the young guy sitting next to me. She then proceeds to tell him he's going to be married two times.

2) Over the course of 2 days, I played two people who didn't appear to have any teeth. My n is low, but my impression so far is that people without teeth don't play very good poker.

3) An unhappy looking Russian guy has spent about 48 hours straight at the 5/10 tables. He is fast asleep when he is not in a hand.

Got any good Taj stories?

While it's not as funny as your stories, the last time I played at the taj I sat next to this annoying guy who stunk of baileys. He went to great lengths to tell me that the auto-card shufflers are rigged and how he refuses to play on them. He would also make it a point to show every "big hand" he was dealt to prove his point.

It didnt bother him that he lost all of those "big hands" he was just happy to be dealt them.

This is for all those "I'm playing 10-20 for the first time, not sure if I'm ready, any advice?" posts.

I'm playing 10-20 one night. Straddling isn't allowed so this guy just waits for his cards then raises UTG without looking at his cards and tells us. I saw it and he didn't look. He gets 3 coldcallers, I fold, blinds call. 6 to the flop.

He bets the flop dark and gets 4 callers. He bets the turn dark and gets 2 callers. He bets the river dark and they fold. He's laughing saying "I never even looked at my cards" and drags the pot. True story. I told him they should put a framed picture of him on the wall for the champion he is.

I was in the cardroom when some guy had 40-50k stolen when he stepped away from a table when the game was on a break. There is a moral to this story don't leave money on the table.

Here is a good Taj story. I was at the Taj late in the summer (I think late August) playing some 1/2 NL. As we were waiting for my last friend to go around the table once more my other friend and I took a walk to the bathrooms and decided to walk out on the boardwalk for a minute. Its about 4:30AM at this point and is still dark out. There are some carnival looking trailers lined up on the boardwalk with picnic tables in between them that vendors sell things during the day. Well we happen to spot a guy and a girl on one of the picnic tables. They are both naked and are going at it at this point. We start pointing and laughing our asses off and others start to notice and join in on the fun. There are about 10 people there now watching these two have full on sex on the boardwalk, pretty much in plain view. One of the gawkers who joined us decided he is going to casually walk by them and attempt to start up a conversation. As he approaches them casually, the girl who is riding the guy is startled and stands up covering herself up. The guy proceeds to take off down the boardwalk wearing NO CLOTHES whatsoever, with boxers in hand. HILARious!!!

Well, a royal flush in clubs was dealt on the board a few tables over from me last time I was there, but that's not funny in the same vein as your stories.

Re: Good Taj stories?

I saw an arrest by a cop who was playing at the same table as the criminal, as they dragged him away he said something like (let me just finish this hand).

5-6 fist fights.

I saw a bum pissing on the carpet right outside the door to the mid limit section.

I've personally been thrown out three times.

Countless meth/crack whore "pickup" lines after 1am, seeing the dudes leave with them is the best.

Trashcan fire.

Saw a dealer get told to go home after a fight with a player.

Some bum stalked me after I made a big score in the 40/80 game, he was staking me out for hours looking through the glass watching our game (which they didn't put in the high limit pit) every time I went out for a smoke he would ask me for money. Finally I gave him 5 bucks to shut him up, when I went to cash out he followed me to the cage and asked for more. He tried to follow me out to the car, but he was really slow so we ditched him.

There are more, but as you can tell i suck as a story teller.

me too, it would be EXTREMELY hard to discreetly pocket 40k in cash without anyone noticing in the room. also those games very rarely go on "break" as you said. finally, the cameras would pick up everything and the guy would be caught eventually.

I was getting destroyed at a fishy 2/4 OH8 table by n00bs playing any 4, and flopped the nut flush against a weak/tight woman you capped the K-high flop. Turn K she bet I called, river blank she took awhile and bet, I called, and said "just show me the boat" she said "nope, only two pair...flips over one king...then slowrolls the 2nd saying "KINGS AND KINGS!" as the whole table laughs and congratulates her with pats on the back. VNH fat whore. I am steaming big time and leave. Then I hit a $2500 jackpot on a slot machine. Phew.

So you called two big bets with a flush against a weak/tight player when the top card on the board paired?

Pretty fishy game indeed.

5-6 fist fights.

[/ QUOTE ]

Shocking.

Last spring I'm playing 3/6 at about 10:00 PM. All of a sudden some younger guy at the first table over by the cage (another 3/6 game) starts screaming at someone else at the table. He's screaming "Come on, buddy! You want to go? Let's go outside right now!" etc, trying to pick a fight. After about 3 mins of this tirade it becomes obvious he's yelling at this older guy (in his 60's or so).

At this point he's starting to make aggressive moves towards the guy, who hasn't left his seat or done anything that I can see. One floorwoman is walking over by us, snickering, with her back to the action. No other floor is over there, and security is nowhere to be seen.

This continues for a bit longer with no house intervention whatsoever, until a 20-something guy built like a brick chit-house gets up from a table over by the rail, walks towards the action and yells "If you're going to swing at someone, you're swinging at me!!!" and keeps walking towards the table.

Loudmouth sits down like a scolded puppy dog and not another peep is heard. Whole room erupts in applause. Only then do two "security guards" appear, and they don't even walk the guy who was yelling that whole time.

And then people wonder why the place has the reputation it does.

Ive posted this before, but I saw a player pee himself at the table and not get up.

Ive also seen multiple fistfights as well as a player throwing his 4 card omaha hand directly into the dealers face while muttering "fat whore"

Finally, there was the individual who dropped his losing aces down the money chute and abruptly left the room

I once played 10/20 through the graveyard shift while sitting next to a likely 2p2er who had horrible dandruff and stank, but who didnt protect his cards, so I looked at them all night long and got to see 4 cards for the price of 2.

If you're referring to my "I'm playing 10-20 for the first time..." point, it was about the skill level at the limit and how it's way overrated by the players who've never played it before. My post showed the skill level is so high at 10-20 you can win a hand without looking at your cards. What the hell did you see me saying?

Re: Good Taj stories?

From one of the $500 buy in events at the US Poker Opens:

I’m sitting at a table near the high limit desk and it’s just after the first break. There is a 60’s + gentleman in the 7 or 8 seat and I’m in the 3 seat. Play is progressing when this guy gets a strange look on his face for a second, then goes back to normal. Suddenly the foulest stench imaginable is in the air. I don’t know if this guy crapped his pants or just let the world’s worst fart but the next thing you know that end of the table and the dealer jump up and start backing away. The floor comes over to see what the problem is and he starts gagging. At this point not only our table but the tables around us are fleeing the odor. They actually stopped the tournament clock for about 5 minuets to allow the air to clear.

When play resumes the floor walks by and simply states “Buffet fart”

I never told anybody this.

About eight, nine months ago, I'm at the Taj, it's late,
and I see Johnny Chan walk in. And he goes, he sits - And the whole place stops when Johnny Chan walks in.

Everybody puts an eye on him. After a little while, there wasn't a crap game going...'cause all the high rollers are over there watching him. Some are playing with him, giving away their money to this guy to say..."Oh, I played with the World Champion."

And you know what I did? I sat down. I had six thousand, but I had to know.

Played tight for an hour. I folded mostly, and then I made a score. I had nothing. But he raised. And I just decided, you know, I don't care about the money. I'm just gonna outplay the guy.

I'm just gonna outplay this guy this hand.

I re-raised. - Re-raise. Oh, yeah. And he just comes right back over the top of me, trying to bully me like I'm some [censored] tourist.

I hesitate for two seconds. I re-raised. And he makes a move toward his checks, and he looks at me. And he looks at his cards, and he looks at me again. And he mucked it. I took it down.

"Did you have it?" "I'm sorry, John. I don't remember." I vomited in my mouth, and I walked to the cashier.

While playing once at the Taj I saw some man take off with a rack of chips. Some women stood up screaming while the man ran. Two security guys take off after him. As he is making his way out he takes off through the tournament area. He goes through the doors and runs into locked doors. The security end up catching him. I asked the floor man what that was all about. He was like "yeah that guy just tried to run off with that womens chips. If he was a good theif he would know that we lock those doors at night. Idiot."

I thought that was pretty funny.

I hate the fat guy with the mustache who won't shut up about his bad beats. He dates a decent looking dealer. I can't figure that one out. He apperently dropped over 10k playing NL. That seems like a bit to much to me but who knows.

I was playing 5-10 at the Taj a few days ago and the guy to my right was dealt pocket aces three hands in a row. I was beginning to think he had cards up his sleeve or something. The hand right after that he thought he had them a fourth time, but it turned out to be A4. As a joke he raised it out of the big blind anyway, though.

From the times i've played with him he either loses non-stop and rebuys 3-4 times, or hits every draw and drives the table crazy.
