I am folding to the re-raise PF but I am a virtual n00b at NL and probably weak-tight.

Why didn't you push the turn? Had a chance to represent trip jacks or a flush. What kind of hand reraises preflop from the BB and c/c's the flop, checks turn?? AK/TT/99?? You should get TT/99 to fold to a turn push, and you are value betting against AK.

i think the guy had AA/KK/QQ, and i was done after the flop until the river came and he made (what i thought was) an obvious blocking bet. i figured there's no way that he'd call without the A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] or maybe the K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

I don't like it. After your push the pot is 225 and he has 100 to call. I think K/Q/J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] all make a crying call because when someone trys to represent a hand they backed into there;s a higher than normal chance they're bluffing, in my experience. Surely with a high club and a hand worth betting on the flop you'd have got active on the turn.

Actually I think this is a pretty good spot for a bluff....assuming he's a decent player that $25 is such an obvious blocking bet with a hand that is good but doesn't have clubs in it....he can't beat anyone with a club or even a jack in their hand with an overpair as long as it doesn't contain a club.....if this doesn't work then you at least know that you will probably get some action later.

How good is the nit at hand reading? You're basically representing QQ-AA with the [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], right? I would think your turn check would put doubt in a villain's mind as to the authenticity of the river bet. With that and pot odds, I expect you'd get a call from half the clubs still out.

I agree with earlier poster, if villain is really a nit I'd try to fold him at the turn.

Re: 87s - River bluff

Even if it's an obvious blocking bet, nits tend to still call when raised with one pair hands. He's also getting over 3:1 on the call, so I see him folding very few better hands.

Did wtfsvi's river overbet with the same hand in a similar situation inspire this? </hijack>
