Use a screwdriver/knive etc. And push the cork into the bottle. Dont realy [censored] the corkscrew, you dont want bits and peices in the bottle.

Get a thick towel and wrap it round the bottom of the bottle. If you now hold the bottle horizontally and bang the bottom of the bottle into a wall repeatedly the cork will ease out slowly. You have to believe the bottle won't break (it won't!) cos you have to hit it pretty hard.....

Actually I hear that you can break the neck off and then filter the wine through something (can't remember what -- coffee filter maybe) to prevent any slivers of glass.

But a better idea is to go buy a corkscrew.

I Googled it and several sources say that it works; however, I'd be reluctant to do it against any type of wall other than solid brick or concrete. That will break through drywall like it were styrofoam.

Wonder if it works if you do it against the ground?

Sorry - I disagree. Breaking the neck off is clearly the better play here.

it absolutely works. however, if you are a real man, you'll just hit the bottom of the bottle with the palm of your hand until you open the bottle or break the hand.

if you are a woman and afraid of breaking the bottle, put a pillow against the wall, and hit the pillow. if you are afraid of breaking the wall, find a stud or a door frame. (knock around the wall to find it)
