Which is more +EV?

Playing 30 $20+2 180 person SNGs or: Playing 11 $55+5 9 person SNGs? What do you think is better for your money?

It depends on if you are better at SnGs, or at multis.

You'll make more money in the MTTs, more $/hour in the sngs

If you are a player whose ROI is the same for both 1 table and 20 table sng's, the clearly 33 $22 > 11 $55.

This being said, good MTT players have considerably higher ROI's than good SNG players. so i dont know why i even made the first point.

But although your EV(MTT) > EV(sng), the variance can bet anywhere from 10 to 50 times as much in the 20 table tourneys as opposed to the 1 table tourney, depending on your style of play and how much gamble you have. So you may have to change the question to 550 $22 20 table tourneys and 220 $55 sng's. And still, you might not even have a 90% chance of making more in the 20 table tourneys.

If you changed the question to, "Two identical players, 1 playing 1 $22 20 table tourney at all times, the other playing 1 $55 sng at all time, who makes more $/hr?", it might be a little more interesting.

Say the player spends about 1.5hr for every 20 table tourney, and 40 min. or every sng. Also, say the player has 80% Roi on the MTT, and 25% ROI in the sng. Then the math is pretty trivial.

(60/40)*55*.25 = $55(3/8)/hr.

(60/90)*22*.8 = $22(8/15)/hr.

15/16 > 8/15, so the sngs are better.
