help with blind structure at local B&M...
 

My local casino has a 3/6 game which is quite loose (6 to 8 handed) but it has a blind structure I'm unfamiliar with. The big blind posts 3 chips, the small blind posts 2 chips and the button posts two chips. My thinking is that given the implied odds there are no hands that you wouldn't post an extra chip to see a flop from the button or small blind. Of course this means that it costs you about $9 to see 10 hands. I have another local card room with a slightly tougher game but a better blind structure of 3 chips for the big blind and 1 chip for the small blind making it $4-$6 to see 10 hands. Does anyone have any thoughts on how this might effect your BB/hour. Which game would you prefer and why?

You are correct, with the 2-2-3 blind structure there are no two cards you can be dealt in the small blind or on the button that you should fold pre-flop in an unraised pot. The only exception would be if one of the blinds pre-flop raises a majority of the time, and if this is the case get a seat change.

I would prefer this blind structure to the traditional 1-3 structure because it would encourage a looser game, which in general is more profitable than a tighter one provided you can adapt to it.

Youd have to raise your good non-premium hands like AT and KJ to keep from getting sucked out by 2-6o

A couple of notes here. The 2-2-3 blind structure is "better" as it is condusive to action. Is this game raked or is the $2 on the button dropped? The one spot wehre you would not put in the additional chip to call is when the big blind frequently raises. Although I rarely see it at small limits 2-3 blinds IS the traditional blind structure for a 3 chip 6 chip game (well unless you go back to before my time when there was a single blind).

I would actually prefer the 1/3 in 3-6 B&M game, since there is going to be 6-8 to the flop no matter what the blinds are (in fact I bet that would happen if there were no blinds at all.) So forcing them to put in the money doesn't really help us, and hurts us because we have more forced bets to make.

On the other hand as the games get bigger I prefer the 2/3 structure like in a 15-30/30-60 game to the 1/2 structure like in a 20-40/40-80 game because it does tend to create more action (and make people make more mistakes like callling too many raises in the SB)

But the extra blind moeny will also chase players out of the game that are worried about it costing too much. Opening up seats for non-nits.
