SB v. BB

Sportingbet 2/4, table is loose passive.

Hero has 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in the BB.

PF: Folded to loose passive Villian in SB, he calls and I check.

Flop: J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Villian checks, I bet

Turn: J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Villian checks, I bet, Villian raises , I fold and curse myself.

I folded figuring he passive and a smallish pot didn't justify calling down. Was this bad?

I think this play is fine.

you describe him as passive, if he is passive would he c/r a turned flush draw?

I think he is most likely to have J-x and almost any other hand beats you except for the flush draw. If our read on him is correct he won't c/r the flush draw so we can expect that he beats us >90% of time?

True

Good fold.

A turn raise often means you're in trouble. Why would he raise the turn? He has a jack? If so, you're toast. He has an 8? If so, he could easily out-kick you.

Chances are very slim your hand is good here.

On the turn, your hand is pretty strong, under the circumstances.

But then when your passive opponent checkraises the turn, I think those circumstances change dramatically.

He's probably got J4s or something. I think it's a good fold.

Versus a better player than this SB, though, I would not be releasing my hand.
