whats your flavor. 3/6 hand

So Ive been having a little bit of a bad run the past few days, that may have turned me into a giant vagina on pretty much any action/playback on the turn.

Tell me what you think. Villian is 40/1.7/1 (when he checkraises, its rarely a bluff). He is pretty much the reason Im down 50-60bbs still. Insane insane suckouts, that I dont even what to go into. Needless to say, hes been lubing me up over 3 days time.

So, whats your line? Comments on all streets are appreciated.

If I knew this player was straight forward and passive, I'd have to put him on 2 pair or trips more often than having a fairly big Ace or a bluff.

Given that you are ahead of A2, but behind A7, 77, 33 and 22, I'd call down as you did. Two big bets to try and win 6.5.

I'd obviously 3 bet the turn against any even slightly aggressive player.

Pretty much what I was thinking. I was mixed between big ace, possible two pair..sets were a possibility as well.

If he was more aggressive Id three bet as well.

I'm definitely 3-betting the turn. I don't see how you can be so quick to give credit for a better hand.

Probably my mindset at the time.

I would probably want to 3-bet this turn. An AF factor of 1 isn't that passive for a player with a VPIP of 40, but turn raises are usually more honest - especially on a blankish card. A non-stat read would have a greater effect on my decision here. I would normally think he would have A2, 72s, or 32s, or a big A that he was waiting enough to make a raise with more often than a slowplayed 77/33 or 22 and therefore a 3bet would be correct. But, I can't really disagree with a calldown very much.

Do players with a VPIP of "only" 40% play hands like 72s or 32s?

Uh, yes? Ok, 72s might be a stretch but 32s isn't

This is difficult. Largely for my own benefit, I'm going to try some combos.

Some hands we're losing to on the turn:

AA (1 combo)
77 (3 combos)
33 (1 combo)
22 (3 combos)
A7 (6 combos)
54s (4 combos)

Some hands we're beating:

A2 (6 combos)
32s (2 combos)
73s (2 combos)
72s (2 combos)

The big aces Piiop mentioned should be considered as well, I think, and perhaps a hand like a small suited A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] should be too. In any event, I think we kind of need for big aces to be a possibility, because a slowplayed A7 and a turned A2 kind of cancel each other out (in terms of combos, anyway), and the 54s possiblity is a problem (and the straight possibility becomes a bigger concern if Villain will play 54o in LP).
