Another hand I played badly vs. duck. 5/5 live

I have 2k, duck has me covered. One limper, she bumps it to 25. She's not being particularly crazy, she got most of that out at the 1/2 while we waited for seats. Her hand range is still wide (She's MP2 and I'm CO... correct me if that's wrong, Vanessa). I have KQo, usually mucking this to a raise, but I have position so I call, because I like losing money to duck.

We take the flop heads up.

Flop: K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Pot = 65

Duck bets 50, I call. (I have no spade).

Turn: K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Pot = 165

Duck pauses, then bets 150. I raise to 300.

How do you play this?

Raise more on the turn or don't rasie - you guys really need to chill with this min-raising crap.

Are you OK with the duck knowing that you have a marginal hand?

I do like to min-raise occasionally as a limit hold'em free showdown type play. Against someone that knows how you play, it seems transparent and weak.

Let's see, having never played a hand with duck before, i would try to rationalize it this way,

she would most likely be betting this turn hard for a few reasons,

she has a spadeless AA or AK and wants to see where she is this turn.

in the case you have an 8, and her spadeless AK or AA is behind, she will steamroll you on the river putting you to a decision if you just call the bet.

she has 89, KK, or 99, unlikely of course

I would think it would be less likely for her to have a draw to the nuts with her AK or AA since her betting in this spot would allow you to put her in a difficult spot. Given the board and the the turn card, i dont think many would suspect you to put a play on her with a value holding like KQ no spade, so her betting with AK to three bet all in may not be a viable play for her.

given these hands, I would say you need to massively raise her on the turn, if she sticks to her hand, you're through. a min-raise would allow her to stay with hands like red AA or AK(or even three bet since she could infer your weakness)

I agree. Once I made the decision to raise I should have bet 400-450. Duck had KQo here also, no spade, and folded. She said she was 50/50 as to folding/pushing.

I'd put in a raise on the flop to figure out where you are. Between 150 and 200. It costs you a lot less to get a better read than a weak min-raise on the turn, which still doesnt give you much of an idea of her hand.

I really dislike the min-raise on the turn, which should be to 400ish.
