Call with A high?
Sat down at a $1/2 NL table at Casino Niagara. Ton of money on the table, people been there all day. Been playing about 45 minutes. Cap on buy-in is $100...I have ~$220. Villain was running hot and then promptly had a few too many cocktails and was calling every raise, raising every limped pot and generally playing awful. I made the majority of my money so far with top pair/average kicker against him. He can't let 2nd pair go. He has been to the cage at least 4 times in the past 15 minutes rebuying. On to the hand...
I open for $15 (very standard, if not small raise) with A-J offsuit in the cutoff with 3 limpers before me. He calls in the SB, two others call. Flop comes K-9-9 rainbow. Checks around, I check. Turn is a rainbow completing 4. It checks around, I check (I had my reasons). River comes a 2. He leads for $20 after shrugging his shoulders. Other two contemplate calling, but fold. Pot is ~$82 including his bet. Call/fold? |
Re: Call with A high?
You are getting better than 4:1 but there's two reasons to fold here:
1. K on the board 2. villain is behaving like a calling station and playing garbage - its likely he has connected Against the right kind of player this is an excellent spot to make a move with a raise, but I don't like calling this. |
Re: Call with A high?
at first I was contemplating raising but due to his current state, its probably not a good idea.
I call due to huge odds offered by the pot and also some metagame purposes. |
