New Website Review- Golden Palace Poker

Fellow Bonus Whores, I happened upon a new site, goldenpalacepoker, after seeing Scotty Nguyen wearing a Golden Palace Poker jacket on the 2003 WSOP shows. They're currently running a 25% deposit bonus up to $100 on new accounts. As far as I can tell, this site is similar to pacific poker in that it was first a casino that added a Poker room. I'm playing there right now clearing my bonus. I wrote a full review of my experience so far on my website(I love saying that), if you want to read it, click here: Golden Palace Review . Or you can go directly to Golden Palace Poker . Just click on the Multi-player poker button. The bonus code, deuceswild, is valid until August 31 so you guys have a couple of weeks till the deposit bonus ends.

Generally I like the site so far, and am especially impressed with the customer support. They've been very receptive to new ideas, so I hope the cashout option problem that I talk about on my webpage can get taken care of. Has anyone else tried this site? If so, I'd like to hear some other reviews. I've worked out a deal with them where I receive $25 for any player that I refer through the banner on my webpage. I normally split the bonuses I receive for referring players, but since this one is so small, I'll give this bonus back to anyone that I refer. If anyone does click on the banner, just send me an email or a PM me so that I can give you the bonus. Happy whoring!

Eventually all of the reviews on my website will be this in-depth. I think this is first site that I've played at that hasn't been talked about on this forum ad infinitum.

Hi, thanks for the review.

Coupla things that I find super important on deciding if I play somewhere you haven't mentioned (I think).

1. Software. Does it look good? Is the action easy to follow?

2. Game speed. Are we talking super fast (Para/UB) or snails pace (Pacific)?

Golden Palace poker is the US portal for Victor Chandler. I basically started there, so I'll give you my opinion of it:

1. The software looks good. Very individual. You can't have your own picture uploaded, but they have a choice of pictures you can use to represent yourself. The chips look the best I've ever seen, and the cards are big and clear. The lobby from memory was pretty efficient.

2. I personally felt the games were a good speed. Others complained it was too slow. I think they've done alot to fix that since I've played there however.

Ah. Thanks Dux.
I think I know VC from a couple of portals that run it (Poker in Europe/Poker Daddy?)

I love the look of their software, and the speed does seem good.
But am I right in saying it's only 9-Handed tables? I hate 9-Handed tables. It's what stopped me buying in in the first place. That and it seemed they didn't have too much in the way of games.

I thought the action might have been good too if they had the players as it's primarily English/European? And you know how Europeans suck at limit poker

Is playing 9 handed really that different from 10 person tables?

For a tight arse such as myself, YES.

I get fits when a couple of people sit out at a 10 handed table, as it's too short handed for me, and suits all the action junkies

Couple sit out, it's 7-handed, and practically a 6-handed table. I don't do shorthanded

I got used to playing 10 handed tables on party poker so playing 9 handed tables like on poker stars drives me nuts. Some one is usually sitting out or something and it seems like I'm playing 8 handed most of the time. The more fish that can sit at the table, the better.

In brick and Mortar I dont find much difference.
Online, players come and go much quicker (and much easier).
It makes a big difference for those that play a tighter game and for those trying to play off bonuses as economically as possible.
If you dont like playing short, or making transitions in your play,
best to go with the 10 handed tables.

Ahhh, thanks for the info dux. I couldn't believe that I had never seen a review of this site before. Does VC have similar limited cashout options? How long did it take to get your money? Can you get the same bonuses for both sites like you can for Party/Empire/Intertops? They seem to have a pretty good selection of NL/PL games. Do primarily more European players play there vs. Americans?

Re: 2+2 IS YOUR PLACE FOR FREE AFFILIATE ADS

I'm not an affiliate there. They told me that they didn't have an affiliate program yet. So I asked them if there was a refer a friend bonus that I could receive for refering new players, they said that they would give me $25 for every new player I refered. That's just really not that much to me, so I figured what the hell, I'll just give it back to whomever I refer. I might look into an affiliate program when they start one up, but I am NOT an affiliate now. Thanks for calling me slimy though, that's a first. I'm working towards becoming subhuman scum. Let me know when I get there.

Why yes, I AM wearing your tinfoil hat.

Re: 2+2 IS YOUR PLACE FOR FREE AFFILIATE ADS

There really is no way to gauge this without knowing what limit you're playing. If you're playing in a high enough limit, you could clear the bonus in 50 hands. If you get the $100 bonus you will have 12,500 action points to clear. Here is their explanation of how action points are cleared:

How Action Points are awarded
The larger the pot, the more Action Points there will be *.
The available points will be distributed to all players who participated in the pot on a pro-rate (percentage) basis.
The more a player bets, the larger their personal share of the available Action Points.
* For every real money hand that is dealt a maximum of 300 Action Points will be awarded.

I haven't cleared my bonus yet, so I will get back to you when I'm done. But at the pace I'm going, it will take me about 15 hours to clear my bonus at 2 4 limit. Dux may be able to better answer this question as he's already played at a portal to this site. I'll make sure to give everyone an update when I've cleared the bonus to see how long it actually took.

Re: 2+2 IS YOUR PLACE FOR FREE AFFILIATE ADS

I accumulated 120,000 in 3 weeks play about 2 months ago.Playing mostly 1-2 NL,2-4 NL and 3-6,5-10 and 10-20 Limit.
The freerolls are good but they keep on decrementing the ratio of prize pool to required Action Points to join.
NL games can be very good. But there are also some great NL players there in bigger games.
Btw fishpondpoker.com is also a skin like Golden Palace of VC.
Customer support is excellent and games arent as good as Party but software is very good.
Connectivity is suspect thu ..there is more latency for me connecting to this site than any other..I am on a 1.28mb dsl connection and rarely have connectivity issues. At GP thu throughout the day I get disconnected momentarily not completed booted just packet loss and this happens often almost everyday.
