An Idea Of Mine

I was wondering if this would work. Also if I attempt this, I will need ideas from you guys

On boxing day me and some friends are going to a park and having a bbq, drinking some beer, maybe play a bit of soccer etc.

So I was thinking of having a little game show type thing for fun. I would put two door-sized pieces of cardbaord on the ground and hold them up with something (more cardboard?). Then, a couple inches behind one of the 'doors' I put a wall of sandbags. Here's a visual, front view:

Side view:

http://x12.putfile.com/12/35408532372.jpg

Ok, so now for the rules:

I draw a line in the ground say 30 yards from the front side of the 'doors'. This is where the contestent starts.

I ask the contestent a game show type question, and give him two possible answers to choose from (A or B), and as soon as I finish asking the question, the clock starts. He now tries to run through the correct door as fast as he can. He knows that to answer the question with choice A means he has to run through door A. Same for door B.

The wrong choice coresponds to the door with sandbags behind it. This means if the contestent gets the question wrong he runs full speed into a wall of sand bags. If he gets it right he knocks over a thin piece of cardboard no big deal.

Obviously between each round, the contestent will stand at the starting line while some people may or may not be switching the location of the wall of sandbags, so that they correspond with the questions. The contestent will of course not know where the sand bags are prior to the round commencing.

So, yay or nay? Do you think this can be successfull? If so, these are things I need to figure out:

[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Where do I get Sandbags? I assume I can by them at like a plant store or something, then go down to the beach and fill them with sand. About 20 or 30 depending on the size of them. eh?

[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Should the game play like a tourney style? Two players compete for the best time, and the winner goes on? Something to consider here is that I need to motivate the contestents to want to run as fast as they possibly can through the doors

[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I'm timing the contestents, but when does the clock stop? do they have to like pick something up that's like 5 yards past the doors?

[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Me and my friends would be more than willing to get drunk during this. We have room for some rules involving alcohol

[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] How do I get the door-sized pieces of cardboard to stand up, and make it so that the cardboard falls over easily when a person runs through it (and remain intact to be used again)

Also, suggested questions to be used in the contest would be appreciated. The only requirement is that they have two suggested answers, one of them correct.

edit: oh yeah and if I do it, of coarse it will be filmed and put on the net

Just buy an extra case of beer and coax some girls to come to the party. That way you be a cool guy rather than a game show geek Alex.

Yah, include girls, lotsa girls, and make forfeits alcohol based - and some where they whole girl team needs to drink. And cheat so that you force them to drink. and when they're drunk, forfeits include kissing guys.

Awww, I wanna play now!

End this thread now. Anything else that doesn't include girls needs stopping.

EDIT: Vavavoom used to be a holiday rep, I bet he could tell you some awesome games to get the party hotter than the hinges on the gates of hell.

I like the crimson challenge version better. Get your mates to each guzzle a beer. Draw lots for the order in which they stand. Each punches the guy on his right in the gut. Whoever barfs is out of the game. Whoever lasts drinks another beer. Then the punches go around to the left. Barfers are dropped. Draw lots for the next line-up with the remaining guys if necessary and repeat till only one man is standing and the rest think it's the stupidest thing they ever agreed to do. Everybody puts in ten bucks or something so the last man standing gets a cash prize.

1) sandbags are heavy, dirty, and kind of useless unless you're in a flood zone. go to a gardening shop and get bags of chicken manure instead.

2) wtf is "Boxing Day"?

26th December. It's traditional in the UK for everyone to go to the nearest common and box each other till one left standing.

It's gone soft now, many insist on having to wear gloves.

Ahhh, the good old days....

interesting...in hawaii, at most schools, december 7 is "slap-a-jap" day. I took a few beatings, but gave out a few as well.

I went to junior high, high school, and the first two years of college in Hawaii, and never heard that before, or anything with that sentiment either.

Some of the jerky soldiers from the bases could be like that though. But they mostly kept to themselves in their own little world.

Can you really say "boxing day" and "soccer" in the same post?

Re: An Idea Of Mine

This is an absolutely horrible idea.

And if you don't know how to make a sand bag, you don't deserve to watch people run into one, you sadistic ass.

It would be much better if you used a kiddie pool filled with whipped cream or jello. And good luck getting people to play your lame game.

Re: An Idea Of Mine

I say put sandbags behind both doors and give questions with no right answers. See how many times someone runs at the doors before he wises up.

This resolves the problem of how to make the 2nd door stand up and forgoes any need to shuffle doors between questions. You can just drink more beer while contestant has his back turned while you supposedly shuffle doors.
