please stop this practice.

i appreciate your support of the system and i think it's working well. it does really help when i'm skimming posts, if i see complaints that's when i'm more likely to zero in on something. but if you're going to complain, please do so with some sort of elucidation as to why it sucks instead of simply saying "*".

it's not that egregious of an offense, and i would basically have to spend all day doing this if i made that a policy. people who get out of hand with it will be dealt with from this point though.

i think that would be fine, but if everybody is still annoyed by the existence of a * in the post perhaps it will have to be limited to just the complaint.

yes. people pm, people 'report to moderator' on threads too. but i definitely notice it when multiple complaints are lodged and i'm just browsing around in threads.
