22: We got a bleeder!
In a not-so-successful effort to stop hemorrhaging chips, I've been completing a lot from the SB. Which presents problems like this. So, 1.) Do you complete? 2.) What do you do on the flop?
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (8 handed) converter UTG+1 (t430) MP1 (t615) MP2 (t930) CO (t1130) Button (t815) Hero (t750) BB (t710) UTG (t2620) Preflop: Hero is SB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG calls t50, 3 folds, CO calls t50, 1 fold, Hero completes, BB checks. Flop: (t200) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) Hero checks, BB bets t50, UTG calls t50, CO raises to t250, Hero ? |
Re: 22: We got a bleeder!
I complete preflop.
With less chips I'd just push the flop but with 750 I like a cr-allin. |
Re: 22: We got a bleeder!
Maybe you should have the intention of check/raising all in, but the way it played out, I like a flat call. I'm pretty sure you're not going to get CO to fold. And since you're probably gonna have to showdown anyways, I would try to lure BB or UTG to call the flop as well.

Splashpot,
With less chips do you play on folding (the turn) if you miss? |
Re: 22: We got a bleeder!
No, I'd see it through to the end. The pot odds would be way too good.

Re: 22: We got a bleeder!
I don't remember the 22s at all.
What hands do you want to call 250 that will fold to your push? I'm thinking that maybe the times CO folds makes up for the times that BB or utg would have called the 250 but fold to the push. |

Re: 22: We got a bleeder!
I think if the others were going to call 250, they'd call a push (particuarly utg+1). What a call does do is perhaps create FE on the turn for a push. He won't be letting go of a set, but there's a chance he could fold a jack, especially if he doesn't have AJ and an ace comes.

Really I don't think it overly matters, just folding would be quite ridiculous if you are to play this hand preflop, as it's the perfect flop for it. I would sometimes complete this pf, but usually fold, with only 2 limpers. |
Re: 22: We got a bleeder!
I would always complete this preflop for half a bet. The flop you can check raise of course, but you have basically zero folding equity. No one raises to 250 there and folds to the allin. The good news is you are usually 50% at laest, and there is some dead money in the pot.

Re: 22: We got a bleeder!
Hmm the problem with preflop is you only have 725 chips though, and a complete puts you on 700 with a pot of 200 preflop (always assuming the BB does not raise). The odds are probably okay to do it, just maybe a bit thin. You're probably right though and in a game situation I'd complete anyway, just wondering if it is correct mathematically.

Re: 22: We got a bleeder!
I suspect that it is...its half a bet!! 7-1 odds! A lot of good things can happen and very few really bad things.

Re: 22: We got a bleeder!
I dont think we are as big a dog to A2h as you might think. My guesstimate is we win 30%-35%...now I look it up.
Please note when I made my guess I thought the 4 and 3 were hearts...giving us the 7 of hearts as an out.I slightly lower my estimate....running it now. Ok, we win 28.3% of the time. If the 4 and 3 were hearts instead of the jack, we win 32.6% of the time. Yeah its not beautiful, but as a worst case scenario its not terrible either. |
