New Sportscenter commercial

I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but there is a hilarious new sportscenter commercial on ESPN featuring Chris Ferguson and Johnny Chan.

Agreed. However, I find virtually all of those Sportscenter spots to be lame and unfunny. I hear people say they are hillarious, yet I don't think I've chuckled once at any of them. I wish someone would explain the cutting edge humor out of a sports celebrity hanging around the ESPN studios.

Did you ever see the old Y2K disaster one? These ads have been hit and miss but if you didn't laugh at that one your sense of humor is beyond repair.

Didn't see that one, so I couldn't say if my sense of humor is beyond repair. But on the ones I have seen, I haven't found any humor. Most of them involve an athlete or mascot walking around in the ESPN studios. I just haven't been able to find the comic genius in that.

They can get it from Comedy Central who should have paid Kilborn millions for leaving and allowing Jon Stewart to host the Daily Show.

That was a good one, and the Y2K one was a good one. I do agree that they don't seem to be nearly as funny now as before, though that could be because I've grown more jaded.

Anchor (to Holyfield): "So Charlie Steiner says you're only the 50th best fighter."

Holyfield: "In the world?"

Anchor: "In GEORGIA."

(cut to Steiner hiding under his desk while Evander storms through the office)

Holyfield: "STEINER! Come on out and get your whuppin'!"

Classic.

The Kenny Mayne one where it's "OldTimers Week" or something and these seniors are sitting with him at the newsdesk or whatever broadcasting and Kenny asks this old guy what he thinks about Patrick Ewing in a trade and the old guy does that old guy look like he can't hear and then says "neva hurd of 'em"

The one where Kenny Mayne wins at foosball, then runs aounrd the table and does the pose-slide like soccer players do. That killed me.

The best is an old one in which they get a high school kid as an anchor...

Re: New Sportscenter commercial

I liked Kilborn (although he took awhile to grow on me).

I also like most of the sportscenter commercials.

The one with the hot-dog champ gulping down his lunch in the cafeteria next to John anderson is pretty funny.

For some reason I liked the one with Andy Roddick bouncing the tennis-ball on his racket on some waiting bench..and some mascot (the Nebraska husker thing maybe??) gets annoyed and slaps it away.

The recent one with Ben Rothelesberger trying to save everyone in the building during a fire-drill was pretty funny, "Do you think he knows it's only a drill?"

The older one where they have to do several different takes in different languages for their world-wide audience was a pretty funny one.

He grew on me with Daily Show (I miss 5 questions), but Stwert was made for that gig.
