Beats from today\'s session, yup, this is standard for me

So I decided to play today after taking a break from my bad run thats lasted for 3 months or so. Today I logged about 1500 hands and these all happened in those 1500.

It's not really so much the beats that I took.. granted, some of the beats are bad but they happen, i'm used to it. If this happened once a week or once a month i'd be totally cool with it. The only reason i've been going crazy though is because it's been happening for a LONG time now. Been thinking its going to end any day now.

In all fairness and not to get into strategy, and maybe there's some results oriented thinking that's poisoning the well, but I think that at least one or two of these hands were misplayed.

You'll get more/better responses if you post them in SSNL, but here goes.

Hand #1, bet the flop, like a standard CB. Hope that those times villain has AK or a 9, he gets married to it. It should be the size of your standard continuation bet.

Hand #2, bet more on the flop, that way you can just push the turn.

Hand #3-7 all look fine, just some tough breaks.

Hand #8, I was originally gonna say that you should probably fold to villain's check/raise, then I realize that he raised pre-flop and called your reraise, so it's really hard to put him on a 6. Tough hand, pay it off.

Hand #9 looks fine

Hand #10, given stack sizes, you should just push the turn.

Hand #11, I think you're getting into some results oriented thinking here. You were a coinflip when the money went in, so it doens't matter if the flop came AAK and you were drawing dead or the flop came A92 and he needed near-perfect runners.

I'm not saying that there was any way to get out of these situations, but there are better ways to play the hands.

</content>

Anyone who thinks they know what variance is, send me a PM and i'll let you watch one of my daily sessions so you can realize your losing of 2-3 buyins one day out of the week is not variance. I also plan on making a post each day with the new bad run beats for my sessions. Already got 5 today and down a total of 4 buyins, gonna need 5 more however for it to be up to par with the original post. I'll get about 1000 hands in later and that should be sufficient to get the 5 more.

I agree 100%

If it were just 1 day then whatever, sh*t happens. But the main point I guess i'm trying to make is that this has been happening for my past 60k+ hands, seriuosly. And I still welcome anyone who does not believe me to just shout me a PM, msg me on AIM, I can load up a few tables and just watch me play for an hour. Ciao.

HAHAHAHAHA, The same thing happens to me. I was going to post some too, but mine are in smaller stakes and not as frequent because I played less hands. These only happen to me in 6 max too, which is the funny part. I can shamefully boast that up until today I was -bb/100 at 25nl 6 max. It was stuff like this that kept happening.

Re: Beats from today\'s session, yup, this is standard for me

What's worse? A bad beat or a cold deck? Who knows, they both suck and you experienced both in the same session. Unless you have a tilt proof constitution, take a break.

this has been happening to me every session for the last 2 weeks. im getting really sick of it. people call my raises with BS, which is EXACTLY what i want, but what happens is what i dont want. i end up losing big pots because i flop a set, overpair etc. and they hit a straight on the turn or river, playing their 45s. and the bad thing is, im not even a loose player yet the players are so bad that they call my 8x bb raises with junk and suck out. the last tourney i played in was a free tourney on AP; basically full of fish. 10 minutes into it, i get QQ utg and push, knowing somebody would call with something mediocre. girl calls with only 1/3 of my chips with 22... flop is 2 4 5 and im a short stack. i managed to battle back, and two hours later i get KK on the button, folds to me i pop it up to 6x the BB knowing the BB chip leader would atleast call. he runs the timer down to zero and says good luck, i already qualified for the main event. and he pushes and i know what he has and i instacall. i was right, AK. he hits his 3 outer on the river and im done instead of being the chip leader. and then a little while after that i join a 25 nl table, i get QQ in middle position, utg raises to $1, i raise to $4, button goes all in for $7, utg goes all in and i call. what am i up against? A7o and 99. i wouldntve been mad if the ace wouldve hit, but a 9 came on the river and i was done for the night this has been standard for me.

Re: Beats from today\'s session, yup, this is standard for me

Ben, you really are beginning to sound like me. But after 2 weeks of having it happen I still had an optimistic perspective that everyone goes on bad runs. I waited until after 2 months and a newly added bad beat forum to begin to share.

Enjoy!

Python,

I just sat down at your table when this happened:

Hero ($398.49)
CO ($27.65)
Button ($302.31)
SB ($199)
BB ($169)
UTG ($201.53)

Preflop: Hero is MP with 8, 8. SB posts a blind of $1.
1 fold, Hero raises to $7, 1 fold, Button calls $7, 1 fold, BB calls $5.

Flop: ($22) 6, A, 8 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $15, Button calls $15, BB calls $15.

Turn: ($67) 3 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $50, Button folds, BB calls $147 (All-In), Hero calls $97.

River: ($361) 7 (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $361

Results in white below:
BB has Ah Ad (three of a kind, aces).
Hero has 8d 8h (three of a kind, eights).
Outcome: BB wins $361.

I couldn't believe it...played the hand back to my wife on PT to show her and she gasped as well.

To your credit, you didn't go on tilt after the hand, playing good tight poker. Hang in there.
