60k in 60 days part 3
 

hey everyone,
well i am going to do anouther one of these 60k in 60 day quests. same deal as the other two before me. 60 days, 120,000 hands, 2k hands a day, and $1k a day at 10-20 6max.

I have been playing bigger and other games for a while but for a variety of reasons i am wanted to play this for a while and it seemed like a good time for the quest. so wish me luck and if you guys are interested at all i will post updates every few days. if no one gives a [censored], well then that is cool too and i won't post many updates.

anyways tonight will be day one, so i am off to play those hands.

wo that sounds like one hell of a quest. i am not sure if i envy that opportunity or am glad that i do not have it. good luck tho. damn that is a lot of poker... and being somewhat of a hermit... but sounds like more better than working for the man...lot o cash too.

I'm down for a head-to-head challenge to see who can do it first/earn more. With a little side wager of course...

Let me think about this.

$60k is 3,000 Big Bets. At 2 BB/100, I need 150,000 hands in 60 days to do this or 2,500 hands per day. At 600 hands per hour 8-tabling, I'd need 4.5 hours per day of playing to do this.

Hmmm, yeah, screw that. I don't love money that much. Yeah, maybe I do. Let me sleep on this... I'll be in Vegas until Sunday, so I'll have to start after that.

i am not counting rake back, i figure it will be(hopefully) like a toatl of 70k with rb.

I don't know. I probably woould. Not sure if that's cheating or not. I've got to go back to the original threads, but I don't think either Schneids or Gonores made their goals though they both topped 40k I think (I'm pretty sure they didn't include rakeback).

The only problems with this is that I will be out of town this weekend (getting a place in Vegas) and I'll be MIA the first weekend in Jan (moving into said place) so I'm not sure how those days would be counted. Part of the challenge is going 60 straight days. If I do this, part of my challenge is going to include 45 minutes of exercise per day, especially since I now have to go to physical therapy for my right leg (muscles got screwed up from not exercising enough).

Edit: Another potential problem is that I want to keep mixing in $20/40 and $30/60 into my game, which kind of makes the challenge easier. It's much better as a straight $10/20 6max challenge.

Btw, how many tables are you playing?

I think the goal is achievable with RB included, but not without it

Gonores got 3/4th way there, Schneids a little more than half IIRC

I just checked it out and apparently including rakeback adds $11,000 to ones bottom line. Hmmm, I guess that does make a pretty big difference.

just 4 for right now, tables that is. i coudl see giving x number of free/muligan days, or haveing our compitiion be over a smaller number of days. whatever if you are really interested i am sure we can work something out.

Yeah, I should probably make a post about it in the Internet Gambling forum. It wasn't even from not exercising over a long period, the doctor thinks it was all caused by just a few days of very, very little movement. They originally thought it was deep vein thrombosis until an emergency blood work showed up negative (apparently if this was it and it wasn't caught early enough, I'd be dead).

Still, I can't walk/sleep/stand without it hurting and it's been 3 weeks. Physical therapy starts monday...yay.

Yeah whatever works. I'd rather start it sooner rather than later. Grrr, another problem I just thought of: stupid dell computer is dumb and needs to be replaced, so I'm working on a laptop... annoying.

Anyways, I'd like to start asap, since I'd rather not spend my first 60 days in las vegas on the computer a ton. It's probably not even a good thing right now after the DVT scare, but meh, whatever.

I think you should include a provision about NOT playing other higher limits or NL at all which might distract you from the task at hand.

Eh, I don't know, I'll have to think about it. I'm game for putting anything up to $1,000 on a challenge if it spans the whole 60 days. A shorter challenge I'm game for a few hundred.

I'm just not sure how I can logistically do it right now as much as I want to. And by the time I logistically can, I don't want to still be playing $10/20.

Let me get back to you on Monday, I can't start playing now anyways.

there are a few things. first the point is not to move up, it is to make some money and stick to a game and a goal. i have played bigger and i have some issues with playing too big in bad spots etc. so i want to make myself play this game for a while make some money, take care of some [censored] and then reveal.

also i think the 10-20 6 max may be one of the best games, most profiatble games on the net. really only the party 20-40 comes close, as far as limit games go. what else is close, the 30-60 party game is horrible, a lot of the other sites 30-60 games are very so-so. you can't get good tables, and all the hands in nearly as easily at the higher limits. i dunno i think it is close, to being one of the or the best game online, than peopel think.

shorthanded just increases profitability so much its ridiculous. if party would open 6max 20-40 and 30-60 people would be making obscene amounts of cash.

this will be very, very challenging

i have played 85k hands in the last 34 days and...it's taxing not becoming a tilt-monkey after your first 300BB downswing or 25k break-even stretch

What do you think the earning rate is at 10-20 6 max? I think it is more than 2BB per hour, if the game is loose and passive enough (and they do exist) it must be higher than that surely. This is'nt high limit for Christ sake! If someone can play their A-game consistantly enough without tilting then I am sure it is higher......any thoughts?

I applaud the effort of 2k hands a day for 60 days, but why the monetary goal? I feel like this would make me far too results oriented if I were doing a challenge like this.

i moved this thread because i dont want it in mush. this challenge differs from the other 3 (gonores, schneids, GoT) in a few ways. one is that those 3 are/were beloved here and people had an active interest in their success. you are relatively new here and i dont think there will be that kind of interest. the other is that the others (mainly the 60k in 60 days ones) included long writeups every few days about how they were feeling, things they were doing, interesting hands, etc. that made them good, valuable reads. i dont think you plan on doing it. there are a lot of challenges here and no one cares about most of them. the ones people take interest in are the ones from people who take the time to give us updates.

for anyone reading this who pm'ed me i will get back to you as soon as i can. there was a tragedy in the family of someone very close to me and i havent been around a computer much at all. i ahve 37 unread pm's right now

FWIW, Dave has been posting here for a while and I believe he made that new account to change his name for whatever reason. I believe him to be the same caliber player as gonores/schneids/guyontilt and believe his playing insights could be as helpful as their's. FWIW, he was playing 10/20 sixmax when me/diablo/schneids/gonores/nate/stripsqueez were playing that game and posting in HUSH and back then I believed him to be as tough as any of those.

Sorry for your loss. Having said that, this mod stuff is getting too judgmental and out of hand.
Dave Mac's posts are always one of the first I open. I read this and looked forward to it. Now, because he's not "one of the beloved posters", a simple post of his in the General forum has been reviewed. It's ridiculous.

Cliques are the worst thing for a forum. Everyone knows there are plenty around here and that's just the way it goes. But when guys posts that others enjoy can be shuffled around because they're not in one, it's getting out of hand.

FWIW, I think Forums are like glasses of water. They'll find and keep their own level without much help. The activity required from mods is minimal.
