i bet here also, but i also make a crying call on the river if raised...

is that just as bad as missing a value bet? or i guess what i'm asking is - is bet/fold the right play over bet/call?

Yeah, I think bet/fold is the right play. He will very rarely be raising on that river, however.

Hey Bob,

I think we would have heard from this villain before if he had a Q. Easy value bet.

As an aside: I know you're struggling lately, but I get the sense that this forum has become "MicroBob's personal forum" and nobody wants to say anything because you're respected and everyone feels for you. The thing is, I'm not sure it's productive. I'm a very short-term winner, so of course I have no advice for you, but I think there are others out there who'd also like to post some hands as well. Just my 2 cents.

I have 2 disagreement's with this. First, this isn't MicroBob. Second, there is tons of forum space. I have no problem with people making tons of posts, as long as each post is constructive. I actually feel like we don't have enough traffic, so I would encourage to make as many posts as PokerBob is making. Sure, it is all comming from the same person, but what difference does that make to the people reading the posts?

He is trying to improve his game, and the one of the best ways to do that is to post, and to reply to posts. It may seem like he has a ton of posts out there right now, but I am sure it will slow down. Even if it doesn't, I have no problem with 20 posts a day from the same person.

Grunch.

Would he really call down with a Q? 1.4 AF tells me that is unlikely. I would love to know what your "table presence" is, IE, how much you have been betting with nothing and folding or whatever on the turn.

Barring some whacked out info that you left out, I bet this 100%.

Replying to posts is a win/win situation. If it turns out people agree with you, you have a confidence boost. If it turns out people disagree with you, you learn from your mistakes, and hopefully plug a leak. This is way better than reading someone else's post and simply nodding your head. When you actually write down your opinions, you can actively change your habits, rather than just seeming to like what someone else has written.

I know. It's not that simple, though. Regarldess, I didn't mean it to read like an attack. I just noticed that PokerBob (too many Bob's - sorry) seemed to have a lot of threads lately. I'm in no position to question someone who's played tens of thousands of hands more than I have at higher levels. I just wanted to mention it. A PM would have been more appropriate.

Re: value bet poll

Betting is easy. K7 or 55 are as likely holdings as anything else for this guy.

Also - if he actually DID have a Q then it would either have a high-ish kicker or low-ish kicker (the former he would have raised by now...the latter he likely could have hit 2-pair on this board and would have raised those too). The less we hear from him the more we can guess that he isn't calling with even a weak Q.

-------------------------------

There's a reason many of us read PokerBob's hands...because many of them can lead to interesting discussions that can help our game.

I agree that the traffic around here isn't terrifically high.
PBob's hands are starting discussions.

I look forward to PBob's HH's (hence the reason I've been responding to so many of them).

Some guys will post 5 or more HH's in a single thread to indentify their leaks. But this makes for a very confusing discussion where I am always having to scroll up and down to remember what the hell is happening and what ideas are applying to what hands.

PBob might post 5 hands a day in seperate threads...but i definitely prefer it this way. If the hand is uninteresting and easy-ish then it will die a quick death and get bumped off the front page.
If it's interesting then we can discuss it.

I also agree with the sentiment that PBob should reply more in other HH's.
I've given a few replies lately obviously (many in PBob's hands)...some were right, some were wrong (according to the consesnsus) and I'm identifying leaks and learning.
And occasionally I think I might actually add a fresh perspective to the discussion too (but mostly I'm trying to get confirmation that my idea is either decent or lousy)

numeri is certainly correct that we have a plethora of Bobs though.

Bob -

I think posting advice in other threads is the quickest way to plug leaks. I've already gotten reamed a good dozen times by replies I've made to threads. This is OK ... I've only played 20-25k hands of shorthanded and I expect to be wrong a fair percentage of the time. I also trust in this community, someone is bound to flame me or correct me most times this is the case.

Have you ever taught a class in real life? I teach ballroom dancing and it's amazing how many times I'll correct myself or learn the accurate way of doing something just by showing it to others. Teaching is the best way to learn, so start posting again to other people's threads.

Oh, and since I've joined in May I've viewed you as one of the top 5 overall posters. Don't let me down just b/c you're on a downswing.

Never look this gift horse in the mouth PB... you have what it takes, unlike many others who spend their time in these forums destined to someday lose their bankrolls. bob keep posting, the threads are good. if you feel "guilty" for posting so many, make "penance" by replying on other threads. Replying to threads with your preferred line is actually about 10x better than being the OP because replies generate more debate and you can learn quicker. That's why i post about 1/100 of the time i reply
