2 Hands from Road Trip
So, I just got back from a casino in NY. I went out there with a few friends. Here are the only 2 semi-interesting (not really) hands I had.
To my right is a man so slobbering drunk I'm getting intoxicated from his breath. He's raising with random hands from any position. Betting anything, calling anything whatever. Every hand PF is his turn, he says "I check". Then 6 people explain it's 2 to call.....every fricking hand. To his right is a a woman (I was assuming - it was Pat in the flesh) in her 50s I'd say who seemed to believe she was God's gift to poker. She's horrible. The BB is one of my friends and he's Taggy. An EP limper, dike and drunk boy call, I limp with 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] on the button, sb folds, BB raises, all call. Flop is A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] BB bets, EP folds, dike and drunk boy call, I raise, BB calls, others call. Turn is the 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] BB donks, those 2 call, I call....I suck? 2nd hand (I'm probably a 50 vpip when I'm out there fooling around). I limp UTG with 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3 more limp, the button(an elderly gentlemen who only raises premiums and can get aggressive at times postflop) raises, sb folds, slobbering drunk calls as does everyone else. 6 for 2 Flop is 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] slobbering drunk bets, I call, 2 folds, 1 call, button raises, BB calls, I 3 bet...standardo? |
Re: 2 Hands from Road Trip
Hand 1. More than enough equity for a raise. But you knew that.
Hand 2. El standardo. |
Re: 2 Hands from Road Trip
Hand 1: Raising the turn is very +EV
Hand 2: I like your 3bet here(not as much as I would like raising the turn in hand1 though.) |
Re: 2 Hands from Road Trip
Yeah, I really can't remember another time where I could raise the turn for value with a hand I knew was behind. As I said "I call", I thought, omg....I have close to 40% equity with 3 opponenets...
So I posted it. I act to fast at times....for whatever reason. |
Re: 2 Hands from Road Trip
Happens to me too. Sometimes I'll make a play and immediately regret it.
I'd say you have 17 pure outs here. The 7 probably makes one of the idiots a straight. Your straight outs might only be good for a split though. |
Re: 2 Hands from Road Trip
Does anyone like a raise pre flop in hand 1? I do
Hand two if you are stuffin around and playing 45s UTG i think you should limp re raise, its probably -EV, but it is so fun when you turn over the winner, and buttons AA is cracked, i am sick arent i |
Re: 2 Hands from Road Trip
I think a turn raise in hand one would be well worth it with that many outs.
Hand 2 looks good to me. |

[ QUOTE ] Does anyone like a raise pre flop in hand 1? I do [/ QUOTE ] Why? [/ QUOTE ] We have a good hand for the conditions we are playing it in, ie multiway and we have position, plus we are probably a huge fav to out play the others post flop, plus this raise preflop could allow us to either get a free flop/turn. It will also disguise our hand. |

Bambi:
When you say "outplay", I'm not sure what you would mean there. The drunk had showndown 6 high before, and the other had bet the river with pocket twos into 4 people. Does this change your mind or make your wanting to raise even stronger? |
Re: 2 Hands from Road Trip
hand 1: raise the turn for value.
hand 2: standard (well expect for preflop ). |

I act too fast at times....for whatever reason. [/ QUOTE ] you don't want the flakes to think; if they see you taking a while it may actually make them reflect on their plays and think about them. that makes them better and that is what you do not want. and typically weak players would poop their pants to a raise there and may kill the action if you hit your monster draw...maybe. obviously a raise is the best play, though. i am sort of trying to make you feel better about your obviously weak-tight play(i figure sucking up to mods has to pay dividends ). hand two as has been said, fairly standard after the flop. |
