Bellagio Poker deposit boxes?? Best way to manage large BR there??

So I'm going to stay at the Bellagio in a few weeks, and this will be my first time in a B&M cardroom since I moved up to the 30/60 and higher games.

I figure that I'll likely want access to at least $5,000 to $10,000 while I'm there. And I don't want to really be walking around with that money, nor leave it in my room, since I'll really have no use for it outside of the poker room.

I frequently see people who get chips from what appears to be their own personal deposit box in the poker room money cage. How do these work? Can I just ask for one when I get there? Is there a minimum amount you must put in there for them to give you one? (I assume they're free).

Any other tips for managing a large-ish bankroll while I'm there??

$5,000 - $10,000 is not a large bankroll.

If you don't want to carry it around, put it in that big metal box thing in your room.

Bellagio has in-room safes. That's probably the easiest way to handle it. You could always ask the poker room if you can use a box, but it's probably not worth the hassle.

I'm not sure how it works at Bellagio, but at The Mirage there's a sign indicated only one box can be opened at a time. That means you could be waiting on your box.

10K is a rubber band job. If you don't feel comfortable carrying that kind of money around, then poker isn't the thing for you.

If you are paranoid, though, then there are choices. Don't use the in-room safes for anything. I don't think that you'll be able to get a poker room safe deposit box, since I'm sure they're all taken. If you can get one, go ahead.

The front desk of many hotels has a safe deposit box, as does the cage. If you want to get one, then fine. There's a minimal deposit but you get it back. 100 bucks I think. I did this at the Monte Carlo once and it was fine. It was a lot more than 10K, though.

10K is QUITE a large sum of money to probably 90%+ of the population in the US, even those of us who make a comfortable living don't sneeze at 10 grand.

Not all of us can be high rollers playing with hundreds of thousands every night and I think it's pretty elitest to say that if you don't then "poker isn't the thing for you"

10K is a large sum of money to most people, however, in a poker room 10K doesn't really qualify you for a box...if you're a regular it may be a little different but that's not the case here...two 5k chips sounds like one of the better options

I am certainly not a high roller, my total poker roll right now is hovering around $1,000, and I have less than 2k to my name right now, but even I think $10k is not much to worry about in a poker room.

Carrying around a lot of money does not increase your likelyhood of being robbed/losing it unless you are not carfeul about handling it.

If it makes you nervouse buy one of those vinyl pouches that wrap around your leg or body and keep it under your clothes.

A briefcase handcuffed to the wrist is another option. Just don't lose the key.

Re: Bellagio Poker deposit boxes?? Best way to manage large BR there??

Not exactly. My point is simple: if 10K will cause this much hysteria and paranoia for you (which is fine), how can you reasonably expect to have enough gamble in you to beat a poker game with decent stakes?

I don't play for hundreds of thousands, but I think this attitude for money is foolish. You should be smart when around poker rooms, especially when playing high, though. Things can happen - ask Raymer.

FWIW, when I go on the road to play 100-200 type of games, I typically bring something like 10-15K, depending on how long my trip is. I seldom carry more than that, and I have a box at my regular room.

Ok, I'll bite, why would you not use the in room safe?

Re: Bellagio Poker deposit boxes?? Best way to manage large BR there?

you don't use the safe because people are idiots and forget the combination too easily.
Thus the hotel has to send up a tech to get it opened. but it can just as easily be opened by anyone with the equipment who doesn't represent the interestes of the hotel.

I take 3.5 from the 30/60. This is not my concern.

My question was about the logistics of getting myself a box, not about the relative size of $10,000 to you.

I always use the in room safe and always have the privacy please thing on the door. So we don't get our beds made big deal. Seems pretty safe to me.

BK - I'm a little worried about your logic on this one, and I also feel bad that you're not getting your bed made, as that is one of the best parts of world class travel.

Do you think that the people who would be interested in entering your room and emptying your safe will be thwarted by the do not disturb sign?

Man...some of you guys are total a-holes.

While they won't give you a box unless you have maybe 100K, I think the room safe will be fine or a front desk safe. Maybe call the pr in advance and ask for suggestions.

As far as some of these d-bags saying 10K is not a lot of money, when you're carrying it around it is and when it's cash it is. How many of you that responded have really carried 10K around with them at any given time in vegas huh? Never heard of pick pockets???

Where are you staying ? All the strip hotels have FREE safety deposit boxes at or near the front desk area -- free to all hotel guests. This is what I did in the past. I have stayed at Luxor, Monte Carlo, and TI. I'd grab 5K out of my box in the morning - go to Bellagio - play for a while -- go back to hotel and put the cash back in the box -- screw around the strip for a while - go to bed - and do it over the next day.

10k can simultaneously be a sizeable amount of money and also not very much considering the context of the question. 10k just isn't all that much when you're talking about high-limit poker or securing a safe deposit box at the cage in Vegas.

I have been told that there is a waiting list for these boxes, although I don't know how true that is. If you're really not comfortable at all carrying around cash, then call the main casino cage and ask about the logistics of wiring the money to them. You can then sign for markers as you need the cash, and you will be given chips. I am not sure if you can redeposit with the cage at the end of each day, but you can easily color up to a large denomination chip. A small number of chips is easier to hide than is cash.

That being said, you aren't going to be able to totally avoid carrying a large sum of cash on your person if you plan to play live poker. Do as another poster suggested and buy one of those cash pouches. I will often hide my poker stake in places like an obscure pocket, and I always keep a small number of bills in my wallet or front pocket with which to satisfy any unsavory characters whom I might encounter. I would suggest that you do the same.

Open an account with the casino. Wire them the money. Sign a marker as you need it.

I carry money on me every time I go out there. It is not in my pocket, usually. I will not post where I put it, but it's not up my ass, so a post with Walken and the gold watch is unnecessary, though always funny.

I roll-up my hundies and place them snuggly in a condom and swallow them. Good enough for blow, good enough for my bankroll.

Re: Bellagio Poker deposit boxes?? Best way to manage large BR there?

$10K IS enough to get you robbed in the parking garage if the wrong person notices that youre not using a box. Key deposits are usually $100. If theres a waiting list and you cant get a box in the poker room, use the room safe or open an account at the casino and fund it with an electronic check (I assume theres some way to fund it without having to pay the fees to wire).

You DO have to pay to wire money to Bellagio, but Bellagio will wire your money back at the end of your trip free of charge or cut you a casino check - whichever you prefer.

I got a box at the Wynn Poker Room and it was very quick and easy.
I must really suck at Poker because it was only for $1700 that I did not want to carry back and forth from the Mirage.

If you go to the Bellagio cashier and ask for a safe deposit box for $10K, then they will laugh at your face. They will then offer you one of those thick rubber bands at the desk.

Open a front money account at the main Cashier. The Cashier is a 30 second walk from the poker room. There is no charge. It’s a quick and painless way to access your bankroll

Tell them you need a key. Hold a large brown bag full of stuffed sealed envelopes. If they ask you how much you have, tell them its none of their f**king business and to give you a key before you take your business to Wynn.
