OT: STTF-HUC II: Where to stay?

I was just wondering where everyone was staying. I plan on going for 6 nights and wanted to stay somewhere nice, without having to spend all my gamboling money (I don't plan on getting comps, since I'm underage). The prof in my casino management class says TI is the "best value" and it looks to have a badass nightclub so I’m thinking about staying there.. Any comments on its poker room? Just looking for some feedback.

P.S. price isn't toooo big of a concern since I'm going to pwn the HUC, which will be paying for most of my trip.

Re: OT: STTF-HUC II: Where to stay?

TI apparently isn't that bad of a place, and the location isn't bad either.

the problem with TI is that that [censored] show is right outside, all day every day. if you ever want to walk around, you have to budget in to your travel the 20 extra minutes each time to get from 100 feet from the door to the door.

the venetian is really quite nice, great rooms, and you can get a good deal on them as well. the location's great, but i don't think they have a poker room. not that that matters very much.

that pic looks nice, but personally i think Imperial Palace kinda looks like a dump.

Mirage offers very good poker room rates. I went a few months ago, and got rooms for $99/night, provided we played (as a room) 22 hours of poker in their poker room over 3 days. With 4 guys, that came out to like 2 hrs of poker a day, per person.

Cheapest price I could find for 6 nights at the venetian was $2332.00 including airfare. This is compared to $1400 at TI, it worth the extra $$$?

Re: OT: STTF-HUC II: Where to stay?

holy [censored] dude, that's a lot of money. i mean, i routinely see venetian from 99 to 199 a night, with avg prices being 149 or 179. if they're looking at charging like 400 a night, it's very much not worth it. i don't know what your airfare is like, but yeah, that's nuts. they're nice, but not that nice, of rooms. is this weekend like, a bookedish weekend out there?

Yeah, the comp'd upgrade came surprisingly easy sharing such credentials as "I play SERIOUS mid-buyin on-line poker...with upward of TWO tables at a time, playing some two HUNDRED tourneys a month".

Meh...maybe it had more to do with sharing my Raptoresque blackjack tendancies - having been locked away, pounding on the door to get out these past couple years

Re: OT: STTF-HUC II: Where to stay?

Airfare is going to cost $250 if I buy it separately. So perhaps I just book my room under my "novelty IDs" name and try to get comps/poker rate, and book my flight under my real name.

Im going to be the dummy, as I've seen a bunch of posts about it, and ask what exactly is STTF-HUCII?

If I had to guess it means Single Table Tournament Forum - Heads Up Championship 2?

If not then what? Where is it being held? What is the structure, and any other relevent details?

Thanks in advance.

It's a tournament where someone like me gets to pay almost 100% rake to play a field of 31 players who are much better than me. There will lots of gambling and strippers, so I guess it evens out.

Any casino that understood that was aware of the degenerate gamblers associated with this deal should pick us all up in a jet.

I hear Hooter's has a casino now.

Re: OT: STTF-HUC II: Where to stay?

I'm staying at TI. It's where I've stayed the last few times I've been to LV. Don't know if they have a poker room.

The guest rooms are nice, and they do have a nice club (tangerine I think?) Overall, though, their restaurants are meh. But it's so close to everything else and very cheap.

I do suggest booking soon b/c of the holiday weekend. Prices for that weekend are already quite high for normal LV standards. The Venetian (as someone said) does rock but is pricey.

Re: OT: STTF-HUC II: Where to stay?

We should really book as a group next time, if that's possible. 30+ degenerate gamblers coming into town looking to blow bankrolls has to be worth some kind of nice discount.

Re: OT: STTF-HUC II: Where to stay?

I'll be staying at the Venetian for at least one night.

The good news is that I'm pretty sure that I can book a "personal limo-type" transport for most of our group outings (seats 15 normal people or 4 Beefies, 1 SethMoney and 3 SuitedSixes).

Raptor pwned the tiny bottles of booze, Creeper left his cell phone in it and Lacky overpaid, so I think the dude will remember me and have us back.....

Let me know and I'll make the call. SplackedMcWhack

Well, my place has a guest room and the 201 bus line will take you to the strip, although the last time I tried putting a hundred in the till and asking for change, I just got laughed at...

Circus Circus wins for "f'ing creepiest place on the planet," but they have a poker room. It's full of clowns.

I've got Empire paying for 4 nights at the Bellagio, courtesy of 100,000 Epoints. And to think I stopped playing there after the Party split, only a few weeks after the trip was booked and paid for...
