What to do with the Big East?

The SEC is overrated, but at least I can name the teams in the conference. The Big East has West Virginia and who else? Seriously, I have no goddam clue. VT? Wait, they're gone. So is Miami. Maybe Boston College?

Do we just continue to wait through their suckitude and keep allowing their crap teams auto entries into the BCS?

Louisville.

UCONN. Just wait, in 50 years, we will be national champs.

Football is lacking, but for basketball they are still a large powerhouse.

I'll assume this relates to football (conference is badass at basketball)

After FSU's embarrassing win last night and coming to the BCS 8-4, I submit the Big East is the least of College Football's problems.

Louiville is one of the most overrated teams in football.

How many teams in the top 100 did they beat this year?

Re: What to do with the Big East?

Um, yeah, if we're talking easy schedules it's not like the SEC is that far behind.

Re: What to do with the Big East?

Louisville has been crushing people all year and one of their two losses was at a very good West Virginia in triple overtime.

For the record, Sagarin predictor has Louisville 9th and West Virginia 11th, higher than any Big East teams. uga, Auburn, and LSU are close though, and if uga had Shockley all year I bet they'd be ahead.

It's reasonable to believe West Virginia or Louisville could win the Big East.

Sagarin!

Re: What to do with the Big East?

Well, WVU will play Georgia, so we'll get a good comparision.

MCS 12-04-2005 05:51 PM

Re: What to do with the Big East?

I'd make the line uga -1.5. WVU has slightly better computer numbers, but uga played without Shockley, which drags them down a little.

Re: What to do with the Big East?

I believe that Louisville will play VT. That'll be another good test for the BE powerhouses. WVU's only loss was a VT ass kicking though.

Re: What to do with the Big East?

The thing is, is that this is the last year there will be 8 teams in the BCS. Next year, there will be the 4 consolation bowls: Rose, Fiesta, Orange, & Sugar. The Championship Bowl will be unnamed, and I believe a week after the consolation bowls. So I don't think I'll mind as much seeing 1 of those 10 teams being an automatic bid for the Big East. You don't want to alienate those dollars from the northeast.

pokerdirty 12-04-2005 06:32 PM

Re: What to do with the Big East?

Secondly, find it interesting that you are complaining about the Big East, when the team that they are sending is a 'top 10' BCS team to the Orange Bowl, when the #22 ranked Florida State team is representing the 'powerhouse' that is the ACC

You should immediatly punch yourself in the face.
The bowl games will speak for themselves, SEC goes undefeated, and I'm not going to reply to anymore of these type sec is overated topic's again until I'm proven right because I think I'm the only SEC fan on this site.

Re: What to do with the Big East?

South Carolina vs. Missouri (SEC edge, but no one cares)
Texas Tech vs. Alabama (TT wins 75+% of the time)
Iowa vs. Florida (Big 10 > SEC, by a long way, but Florida has a decent shot of winning)
Miami is better than LSU, though not by much.
Auburn is better than Wisconsin, though not by much.
Georgia is better than WVU, though not by much.

There's no way SEC goes undefeated there. Someone needs to bet you money.

They likely won't go undefeated, but they certainly have a shot.

Re: What to do with the Big East?

The LSU game is the most concern because Russell probably want play. Auburn is playing alot better then wisconsin right now. They could probably beat any time in the country right now besides the 1 and 2 spot.( gonna catch hell for that). but its true. The rest look like good matchups for the sec, except alabama vs. tech it want be a pretty game by no means AL offense just is missing something right now but their d keeps them in it to the end and provides the W!

Auburn is much better than Wisconsin...any spread less than -5 is a gift

I think I'll be betting FSU on the moneyline too

MCS 12-04-2005 11:30 PM

Re: What to do with the Big East?

That's funny, I think a spread of 5 would make Wisconsin a no-brainer bet.

I would have liked that. Michigan would have been a very nice bet there.

FSU is much better than their record indicates. The Big East is breathing a huge sigh of relief that WVU didn't manage to trip up down the streatch and send South Florida or some nobody to the BCS.

Well, we'll see when WVU takes on Georgia. (of course, it's probably a close game that leaves the outcome in doubt) Heh.

TTU doesn't beat Bama 75+ percent of the time. That is ridiculous hyperbole.
