Foxwoods Players
I'm just wondering who around here are calling Foxwoods home. I just turned 21 (I've been playing there for about a year now) and I'd like to meet some players from this site. I'm a smaller game player sticking to the 1-2 NL and 4-8.

Re: Foxwoods Players
I'm there 2 or 3 times a month playing the 20/40 game.

Re: Foxwoods Players
like twice a month playing 10/20 or 20/40 limit and occasionally 2/5 NL or O8.

Re: Foxwoods Players
I've been away for a while but once I get back in my normal routine, I'll probably be there 3-4 times a month, usually on Saturdays. Used to play 4-8 but now prefer 5-10. Yellow chips are ugly.

Re: Foxwoods Players
I used to play there every other weekend or so ($2/4, $4/8, $1-2 NL, low-limit stud and O8) but I realized I'd be better off saving up bankroll online so I can play at reasonable limits and not feel like scared money. I still play there on occasion.

Re: Foxwoods Players
how is that 20-40 game (not that I'm going to play it anytime soon), one person I played with in 4-8 said he played that once and said it was really loose with people calling capped action preflop with 5-2, is it really that bad?

I've found this to be the rockiest game I have ever seen. I don't think we had a kill pot. What has been your experience? |

[/ QUOTE ] it's a pretty soft game but has been aggressive a lot when I've played it. the swings can be pretty heavy so if you're not ready to drop 2k I'd stay away. also while there are a lot of loose players, the 10/20 game will often have 3-4 completely clueless players while the 20/40 game most are at least decent postflop. |
Re: Foxwoods Players
I will make the trip about 1-3 times a month to play 4/8 or 1/2 NL. I havent been since the WPT event last month. The last time I was there I played in a great HOE 2/4 game. It was the most fun I have had thier playing poker.

Re: Foxwoods Players
The O/8 game at Foxwoods is much more gamble in the morning, usually the rocks come in later in the afternoon. I usually go up when they have their major tournies, i play 5-10 and 10-20 holdem , and occassionaly some O/8. I will not touch the 1-2 NL as i don't like the $5 dollar time the casino takes in.

[/ QUOTE ] It depends a little on the lineup. I'm usually the youngest player in the game by at about 40 years (I'm a smidge under 30) and, despite being crotchety retirees, they aren't all rocks. A lot of the players are very loose preflop but passable postflop so you can push them around. Some of them are complete calling stations calling down with any low and/or any two pair or better for high (Lorraine is one older woman who plays this way many people on this board know-- she also says "ship it" in a loud voice whenever she's got anything that entitles her to any part of the pot). One reason there aren't many kill pots is that it has to be a scoop for there to be a kill and, if there's no low, the pots aren't big enough to trigger one and, if there is one, its rare for one player to get both sides. |
