Forum Split
Hey all,
I was going to ask mat to make another NL forum, but first just wanted to clear it with everyone. This isn't really going to have any impact on MHNL, and is mostly for SSNL. I feel like this would make the most sense, but I'm open to suggestions. I don't think splitting the forums 6max vs full vs hu, or live vs online makes much sense. At the same time, some of the 5/10 hands could just as easily be .5/1 hands, so what do you all think: Small: 1/2 NL and lower Mid: 2/4 NL - 5/10 NL online (5/10 basic concepts, obvious answers due to stack sizes, etc...) High: 5/10 (deep stacks, live play) and higher Eh? |
Re: Forum Split
works for me, 2/4 has always been the child no ones wanted

Re: Forum Split
Looks good, but let's clarify that 5-10 only belongs in high stakes if it is deep stacked, not just deep stacked OR live as your post may have suggested.

smarmy? [/ QUOTE ] smarmy. |
Re: Forum Split
Sounds good. 1/2 could probably go either way, too.
|
Re: Forum Split
learn something new everyday.
|
Re: Forum Split
The thought of 1/2 even being considered 'mid' is laughable.
|
Re: Forum Split
If the primary point of the split is to reduce the traffic in the Small Stakes forum, this would go a long way towards that goal.
Although... you're probably right. |
Re: Forum Split

The thought of 1/2 even being considered 'mid' is laughable. [/ QUOTE ] i dont really care 2 much, but i think the mid stakes forum should revolve around 1/2 and 2/4 games. leave the higher stuff here, no reason to kill this forum... we like it. the SSNL forum sucks pretty bad (sry guys). i dont blame the thinking plyrs who are actually trying to improve and move up for not wanting to post trhere hands from online 200NL and 400NL there. |
Re: Forum Split
I like this idea as the HL forum has gotten crowded, and the game changes drastically change as you go from 2/5 to 10/20 and especially the huge differences in live versus online play.

Re: Forum Split
well yeah, i think 200 and 400 are in a group of their own. ive always considered 5/10 and up to be high
anyways, smarmy. |
Re: Forum Split
I think 5/10 can go either way. I think 1/2 can go either way. I wouldn't be averse to just making "Small", "Mid", and "High" forums and then just having it shake out however it shakes out.
|
Re: Forum Split
I propose.
Small : 1/2 and lower Mid : 2/4, 3/6 High : 5/10 and higher. Forget all the live/deep stuff. And I do think Party 5/10 belongs in this high section, just as long as people don't post dumb hands. |
Re: Forum Split
fwiw i like the idea.
ill try to post more 2/4 hands, i dont really post any now b/c i feel like some of the others, ss is kinda worthless, high stakes doesnt fit. -JP |
Re: Forum Split
IMO 1/2 online belongs with 2/4 in the mid forum and 1/2 live belongs in small stakes.
|
Re: Forum Split
wow, look at how this thread explodes at this hour, every1 is online.
some of u hos post some hands, i am bored waiting for my gf to get home w/ food. i am also v hungry. |
Re: Forum Split
Everyone is online because everyone is bored at the end of a day of work. But since everyone is still at work they cannot post hands.
|
Re: Forum Split
You have a girlfriend?
|
Re: Forum Split
u guys work?
woah!! |
Re: Forum Split
While I agree 1/2 as mid stakes is laughable, I think 1/2 belongs with 2/4 as 3/6 is barely played, it would be the best way of controlling traffic imo.
Have 25nl-100nl as micro, 200-600/1000 as ssnl and higher as MH if it makes you feel better. |

Re: Forum Split
your guidelines are fine AZK and would work great I'm sure....as you alluded to, sometimes things aren't so black and white because, for example, a 5/10 game with $400 stacks plays much lower than a 5/5 game with $2000 stacks....and then there are 3/5 games that have $200 capped buy-ins and stuff....so one alternate solution would be: instead of separating the forums by BLIND amounts, separate them by STACK amounts......i.e. - if average stack is $0-200 it is SSNL, $200-1000 is MSNL, $1000+ is HSNL.....the exact numbers are obviously debatable, but the idea is just a suggestion....

[/ QUOTE ] I agree with coltrane. But make it 300 to 900 or so. So 5/10online goes on high, and everything else fits in mid, whereas 1/2 live is still small stakes. |

Re: Forum Split
I like the plan. I find my 2/4 hands don't get good responses in SSNL. And it's also hard to find $400 hands buried between all the lower stakes hands.

Re: Forum Split

IMO 1/2 online belongs with 2/4 in the mid forum and 1/2 live belongs in small stakes. [/ QUOTE ] This is true. 1/2 plays more like 2/4 than .5/1. Mid stakes should be 1/2-3/6 which would really only move 3/6 out of MHNL and there aren't too many of those posts anyway (and they should be with 2/4). |

Re: Forum Split
why not just go by stack sizes, if you have 400-1000, thats mid, 1000+ thats high, less than 400 thats small
|
Re: Forum Split
Yeha, I have found very little difference between nl4 and nl6. 1/2 is noticebly different.
Yay for the split. |

I call dibs on Mid Stakes NL Moderator position.
