SEA vs NYG, challenges

I'm hoping somebody here can satisfy my curiosity. I'm watching the Seahawks v Giants game.

With a few minutes left in the 4th, Holmgren challenged the spot of the ball on a 3rd (to be 4th) and short. After the original call was upheld, the referree announced "After further review, blah blah blah, play upheld, blah blah blah, Seattle will be charged with a timeout. That's Seattle's second challenge"

Maybe the ref meant "that's seattle's second timeout", but he said second challenge.

Fast forward to 2:07 left in the game.

Seattle is trying to challenge....

Did Seattle challenge earlier?

Thanks,

Josh

Ok, I thought I was crazy. I was like...only two challenges right? And then they were saying he was challenging and I was like ???

Regardless, it wastes a time out...I just hope the Giants can pull a win out from somewhere.

I think the annoucers might sneak into the locker room after the game to blow Eli Manning.

This is incredible. STFU already about how good you think Eli is.

I thought the second challenge was a booth review.

He was juggling the ball the whole time. That's not a catch.

Shockey's celebration was a lot funnier though. His look when he saw it missed was priceless. I think Shockey was voted "most easily confused" by his highschool class.

Re: SEA vs NYG, challenges

Don't know the answer to your question, Josh, sorry, but just wanted to make a few comments about the game. The announcers were terrible. I didn't understand what they were saying about the 2:07 challenge. Did it come at 2:07 or 1:59, they just confused everybody. And then the guy kept saying, when it was 14-13 Seattle, that if Seattle kicked a field goal, it would make it a "two score" situation for the Giants. Eventually he corrected that.

I'm not a football fan per se, but I thought the game was uber entertaining. Gotta feel bad for the Giants kicker, the 54 yarder was a stretch, but he sure missed two he should have made. Giants seem like a talented young team that just seems to do enough to lose the close ones. Same thing against Minnesota a few weeks ago.

My wife was watching the overtime with me and she said how boring it was with all the challenges. They did slow the game down a lot.

Best part about the game was that it started at 1:00, giving those of us who stayed up late last night, learning from the experts, a chance to sleep in. We expert sleepers can sleep a few extra minutes and extract maximum value out of it.

The play started at 2:07, meaning it has to be challenged by the team not the booth. Its based on when the play started and thats prolly what they were saying in 1000 words.

Josh, I thought the same thing. However, after they came back from commercial the announcers said that the ref incorrectly said they had challenged twice when they had only challenged once. I wasn't watching the whole game, so I don't know if that was true or not.

Feely is a good kicker; he just had a bad day. They should stick with him. I don't know much about Bryant.

It was true. At first, they might have been counting the review of the Shockey TD at the end of the first half (in which the call was still blatantly missed even with a review ), but that review came from the booth rather than a challenge.

YAY!!

If that Shockey TD was a TD, then the Coles non-TD in the Jets game was a TD. As I understand the rule, they both should be.

Coughlin did a bad job getting his kicker in good spots.

meh, I haven't been paying much attention to pending baseball deals, there is just waaaay too much speculation for it to be fruitful. For every 10 yankee trade rumors one will come through, I don't really track them all.

Re: SEA vs NYG, challenges

The NFL apparently can't see - that Toomer play was definitely a catch, and the Shockey play in OT was a catch as well. The Shockey TD in the 1st half was *not* a catch, however.
