Quick Reply
I've seen at another forum (www.fmforums.com) the option of "Quick Reply"--it's just a reply window at the bottom of the post. You still have the option of regular reply, but makes things a bit faster.

Re: Quick Reply
Oooh, I don't like this idea at all. A quick reply feature will create more one-liner posts and content-less nonsense. I like that it takes some doing to create a post, because hopefully it makes people put a little thought into it. Some forums, like OOT and Sporting Events, would be okay with people making quick, one-line, thoughtless replies, but the poker strategy forums should do everything to discourage that kind of posting.

Re: Quick Reply
Hey...they added it. I like it.

Re: Quick Reply
Eww, I don't like it. This is lose-lose
It discourages people from using the quote function and will make threads harder to follow in flat mode. Also, people will go to the bottom to reply instead of clicking on the specific post they are replying too, making threaded mode useless. (Which it kinda already is, but some people love it) |
Re: Quick Reply = ADMINS READ THIS
DANGER: if you click on one of the "quick reply" buttons on a post and it brings you to the bottom of the thread, when you submit the post there is an error message, and your post is gone.

Re: Quick Reply
It is amazing anyway that they started a forum suggestion-forum on saturday and on sunday two changes are already implemented as a result of it. Kudos to 2+2!

Re: Quick Reply

Moving forum suggestion above OOT to not disrupt the world of the OOT-junkies .

[/ QUOTE ] Well Chuck finally has his own forum. It should be easy for him to stay on top of whats posted here and give prompt attention. Really, that is the best reason to have this forum. |
Re: Quick Reply
I'm patting myself on the back using quick reply. Thank you, 2+2. I love you.
It's a sad life, isn't it? |

Re: Quick Reply
Ugh, I still hate the quick reply. I really think we'll see negative consequences -- more one-line chatty comments, as if this were an IM session. Threads that become conversational will just be like a chat lobby as opposed to a strategy discussion section.
Take away the Quick Reply!!! |

[/ QUOTE ] how is it different other than you have to click one less button? I like it for the sole reason that it allows you to reply to a certain post while still being able to go back and see the original action in the OP. |

But most of the time you're replying to a strategy post you'll reply to the OP, which you can see during a normal reply and thus be able to refer to said action even without the quick reply feature. I think the rare times you're replying to another post in the thread but still want to have the OP handy do not outweigh the negative consequences. I dunno, maybe it's not such a big deal, but I've just noticed that other message boards which have quick reply features like this are more like chatrooms and less like intelligent discussion fora. |

[/ QUOTE ] Granted. Okay, so what do you do when you're quoting a specific post (by clicking the quote button on the top right side of their post), and it brings to you the non-quick-reply screen where you can only see the entire post you're quoting and not the OP? Or do you not do that, and just cntrl-c/cnrtl-v the text you want to quote, then use the QR? |

Re: Quick Reply
to create a quote in quick reply, just surround it with qoute and /qoute in bracket tags!
You can then copy and paste from multiple previous posts, rather than needing to reply to each post individually. |
