PLO8 dying on partypoker?

I play $25 PLO8 on partypoker and since the split between Party and their skins, I noticed that the tables have tightened up (even at $25 PLO8, the average pot size has dropped) and the number of players are slowly decreasing at middle and high limit. Am I right?

If Wednesday night was a reliable sample, then no, you are not right. Games were rockin' and rollin.

Well Wednesday night before a national Holiday is probably not a reliable sample of what to expect the rest of the week/year.

I believe it would be beneficial to Partypoker if they added PLO8 to the ten dollar sit and go's....just my opinion.

Build a roll and play the 100 and 200 games. They're really, really good. The pool of players is so small on party for that game I can tell you who the (six or seven) killers are in it, and to avoid them.

I'm curious why you guys want to know who someone else thinks is good. You have PTO, rely on that. Creating a list of players you should be fearful of is a bad idea; self-fulfilling prophecy and all that.

Site Comparison

Where are the best PLO8 games under $200?

The results might surprise you. I sifted through Pokertracker Omaha and got the following statistics:

Site: Hands: Site VPIP: Site WSD: My BB/100:

Party Poker, 54K, 35.56, 55, 12.2,

Paradise, 4.3K, 45.8, 57, 28.3,

PokerStars, 5.7K, 39.1, 56, 15.11,

Prima, 12.6k, 41.1, 58, 6.2,

Ultimatebet, 2.6K, 41.8, 54, 32,

Party since Oct., ?, 33.1, 56, 4.4,

__________________________________________________ ______________________________

Site: Average pot size per level: $50, $100, $200,

Party, $26, $43, $83,

Prima, $23, $37, $78,

Paradise, $20, $35, $42,

Pokerstars, $15, $26, $53,

UB, $19, $33, --

__________________________________________________ _______________________

The things which stand out to me:

1) Party is relatively tight, and getting tighter. It also tends to be the most aggressive site.

2) Prima IS loose pre-flop, but the players ARE better post flop.

3) Paradise and UB are full of lower limit fish.

4) $1/$100 and below on Pokerstars is pretty beatable, but it is hard to clear bonus below the $1 level.

5) Party and Prima have the largest pot sizes per table level.

SOMEBODY PLEASE POST POKERROOM STATS!!

Re: Site Comparison

From PokerRoom :

5.8K Hands
35.18 VPIP (36.91 when I exclude myself)
56.3 W$SD, I don't know how to get just a went to showdown %
I'm pulling in 10.4 BB/100

Avg pots:
50 - 21.45
100 - 41.23
200 - 75.93

I've asked them about this but it would trash the quality of the 33's.

Thx. for posting. I did mean W$SD not WSD. Pokerroom does not look particualarly juicy to me relative to other PLO8 available.

It's more likely that you ran hot over short intervals at some of these other sites (and perhaps also benefitted from temporary anonymity--bad players haven't yet learned to avoid you). Such small sample sizes beg to have confidence intervals drawn around them--I think you'll see the winrates at other sites don't differ from the winrate you show on party in a statistically significant manner.

Agree, 12k hands and less is way too small to make judgments on, for starters

Re: PLO8 dying on partypoker?

I don't think I was playing at Party when then skins were at the most popular. I've gotten to play against a few maniacs already this week though, around 8PM EST. Seems to be new players popping up here and there. They usually don't last too long though.

Re: PLO8 dying on partypoker?

Some of us don't have the Omaha PT. So, knowing a little something about who are the known players who are really good would be really helpful.

Even if you have PT, the first time you sit at a table with someone, you have no info.

I too would like to know who the 6-7 sharks are, please.

Re: PLO8 dying on partypoker?

Chiseler
Preordained
ZAPPUD
THEPOUNDER
Ardipithicus
GTE314

are all very tight and very solid. If they are betting, then you know they have the stone cold nuts...

Everybody will have a different 6-7 people they fear is what I'm saying.

But FWIW, I don't think anyone at the 200 level is worrisome enough to avoid playing

Re: PLO8 dying on partypoker?

I think I played against the same THEPOUNDER at $25 this week. He certainly kept the average pot-size up. Made for some fun gambling.

don't walk, run!

I'd added 95% confidence intervals to these winrates. As you can see, it's very difficult to see any statistically significant differences between winrates from site to site. (Formula: win rate +/- 2*SD/sqrt(sample size), where SD is 62 & sample size is #hands/100)

Site: Hands: Site VPIP: Site WSD: My BB/100:

Party Poker, 54K, 35.56, 55, 12.2, [2.7, 17.5]

Paradise, 4.3K, 45.8, 57, 28.3, [9.4, 47.2]

PokerStars, 5.7K, 39.1, 56, 15.11, [-1.3, 31.5]

Prima, 12.6k, 41.1, 58, 6.2, [-4.8, 17.2]

Ultimatebet, 2.6K, 41.8, 54, 32, [7.7, 56.3]

So, for example, it would be silly to stop playing at Prima just because you've only run at 6.2 BB/100 over your first 13k hands there. Just as it would be silly to switch to UB completely just because you've run at a smoking 32 BB/100 over your first 3k hands there. I know you (Men) understand this, but it's worth tapping out for general interest.

At least 4 of those SN's are aliases for 2 players....
