Chau Giang Conversation Event #2 WSOP 2005

I know it was awhile ago but i keep telling people about it and they think it was pretty funny. So i decided to share it with you fine people.

First of all he shows up a good 1 hour and half late. I think even helmuth was there at that time. He's sitting 2 seats away from me and i'd say he plays 3 hands in the 2 hours we were at the table. Anyway our table breaks and we both move to table #5 i believe. (It's about 3 hours in the tourney) Right during the action in front of i'd say 30 people (people watching and players at the table) He starts to have an arguement with some guy that came from another table. I don't know if you've heard chau speak but it's pretty horrible english. Anyway they are argueing about $50,000 the guy owes chau. The guy gets pissed and says "what you don't think i'm not good for it". And chau just continues saying, "just give me my $50,000" in broken english. This continues about 4 - 5 times until chau is just furious. I thought it was just really strange and awkward they would just opening talk about it. Especially during a wsop event ($1500 buy in) The guy sitting next to him is like "man don't you know you're never suppose to borrow money to a poker player" Chau just laughed a little.

If wondering i made it about 6 hours and chau was still in it when i busted.

You and my girlfriend should have a contest to see who tells better stories. That would be an interesting contest.

I appologize if this was a horrible story. Thought a well known professional poker player having a shouting arguement about a $50,000 poker debt while the wsop was going on in mid hand was interesting to share...I've heard chau went broke and i think this shows he's far from it...My appologizes..

It wasn't boring. This is just a tough crowd. Chau Giang has a very interesting story of rising from a dishwasher in Colorado Springs to playing in the big game for millions.

It must be hard for him to get motivated to play in a $1,500 tourney against thousands for a shot at what? 500K? When he can win more than that in the cash games going on.

The Professor, The Banker and The Suicide King book says that he plays tourneys because his son wondered why his dad said he was a pro poker player, even though he was never on t.v.

Or you could look at it this way... if Chau is flipping out in public over a $50,000 debt (only a handful of big bets in his game) maybe he HAS fallen on hard times
