i thought 81BB in 4.5 hours of play last month was bad. tonight i've dropped 117BB in 4 hours of 2tabling 3/6 6max. granted, the tables i chose to play on were huge LAG fests where 3bet isolation was standard with simply playable hands. the standard of deviation was way up there. i would assign 10-15BB of the loss to tilt. but it's very hard to assess exactly how much was lost due to it, despite my VP$IP faithfully hovering around 27.

what i lost in these four hours is about exactly what i've won this month so far in online play, so it's as if i didn't do any playing at all this month. i read in the HUSH forum that in someone's very regular playing over 2.5 years, their worst session was 130BB in 5 hours. i suppose after doing this myself for almost two years that a night like this was inevitable, especially with short handed games being the norm for me. i don't want sympathy or for others to commiserate with me. we all go through rough spots. this kind of thing has to happen at some point, right?

in big bets, what's the worst session you've had so far, and how long have you been playing for? i find solice in numbers that i'm not alone.

Last Monday I dropped 155 bets in 3 hours of 10/20.

how do you feel afterwards? do you need time off after a traumatic session like that? this is why i find 500BB to be an absolute minimum before moving up.

Suprisingly good. Long term is the only thing that matters. Playing overrolled is a necessity in my mind. I have 3000 bets for my game.

As soon as I drop 50BB I take a break and do something else. Dropping 50BB is usually just variance, but there's always the chance that it's something else, be it simply not playing optimally, or just playing at too TAGgy a table. After dropping 50BB, I take a break, regroup, and try to come back fresh.

Today was bad, I dropped 250 Big Bets at party $25. Set over set, KK vs AA on a 555 flop, two overpairs under overpairs, and one hand where my continuation bet got raised by 56 on a 883 board I reraised and he called and hit five on river.

120bb at 5/10 full ring. I could chalk it up to a bad run of cards, but I know now that it was getting outplayed and making poor decisions. I was simply running hot previous to this and felt invincible. Reality can be a harsh mistress.

as far as my best session, i played 10/20 live for 8 hours one day and turned my $500 buyin into $2400.

I was once down 140 BB in limit, but I sat at the computer for 6 more hours 4-tabling, and after urinating in a McDonald's cup I reduced the loss to 10 BB.

The worst session i've ever had was a 60 BB loss in five hours. The best session(s) i've ever had were 50 BB in two and a half hours, and the monster of all sessions occured in a 15-30 O8B game this summer, where I ran $500 into $4100 in about two hours. (yes, I won almost every pot)So that was like a +120 BB 150 minutes. .8 BB's/ minute.

I usually play NL25. I've tried a little bit of NL50 in the past and I can't handle it. I'd like to win more. What should I do? Any advice?

There is less variance in NL than what I play, but from what it looks like, you either are just on a bad run (3k hands isnt much, thats like 3days for me) or you arent a winning player.
