My favorite game : Raise-A-Donk
Villan is pretty standard looser besides the fact that he often donks.

oops..sorry missed that you are BB.
fold the flop tho. b |
Re: My favorite game : Raise-A-Donk
I think the 3 bet preflop is standard.
When he donks the flop, it puts me to a test. I think it is either raise or fold here. Is this a standard fold for you? |
Re: My favorite game : Raise-A-Donk
Realize that SB expects you to raise when he bets. Raising is often playing into his hands.

Re: My favorite game : Raise-A-Donk
there aren't a lot of sevens that are calling you on the flop besides K7 and A7. I think villain flopped middle or bottom pair. If he has A pair in his hand lower than queens you are usually either looking at a set on the flop or a 4 bet preflop. The action indicates that your hand is good. I bet the river.

Re: My favorite game : Raise-A-Donk
I think the flop is a pretty easy fold.

Re: My favorite game : Raise-A-Donk
I don't think there's really a standard way to play this.
Preflop, I think calling and 3-betting are both fine. If your opponent respects 3-bets and will frequently give up postflop when he faces one, then that's probably the way to go. But apparently this opponent doesn't respect 3-bets (and he shouldn't so much, in this situation), so I'd consider just calling. On the flop, I think routinely folding, if Villain routinely leads, would be bad. That doesn't mean you have to raise, though (but I think that is also an option). Against a 3/6 unknown, I would probably peel on the flop. And then, on this turn, I might raise. If I actually had AQ, there's a good chance I'd take the same line. Anyway, those are just some thoughts. Blind-versus-blind battles are something I struggle with. Edit: By the way, versus a predictable postflop opponent who isn't playing aggressively in blind-steal situations, then folding the flop would be the sensible play, I think. |

Why didn't you bet the river?

Re: My favorite game : Raise-A-Donk
If he likes to donk you really can't fold a hand like this. Remember that if you fold a hand that has been 3bet like this preflop as little as 17% of time the donkbet is automatic for him. In practice the break point is going to be even lower since sometimes he'll actually have the goods.
So I say save the folds for when your hand is truely hopeless, here at least you have Ace high... Given this i would usually raise but calling can sometimes be an option depending on how tricky he is. /Bjorn |
Re: My favorite game : Raise-A-Donk
My play would be call preflop, and raise the flop.
1 over card only and most likely it didnt him him. Id say 1 in 5. If he has a 5 or 6 then you probably have 2 overs. 76, K7, A7 would suck If he has a draw like 89 and he is weak he would call. Once again you are ahead. If he has 76, he might reraise you here. But overall I would bet the river. Only the Q you probably fear here and in most cases he doesnt have it. Also try to notice how he reacts on the turn. I would place him on A6, K7, Ax (no pair), 98. Since he is a weak player if he made 2 pair or a straight he would raise the turn. If he was tricky then he would bet the river. |
Re: My favorite game : Raise-A-Donk
this hand sucks. you put in a large number of bets when you might or might not of had the best hand and then you get there on the river and forget to bet.

Re: My favorite game : Raise-A-Donk
I kind of like the flop raise every once in a while when I have a read like that. I also spew chips, so take that for what it's worth.
How about taking the free card on the turn? Then bet the river when checked to or even raise a bet from villain when the 8 falls? |
