I just got a new computer.
It now runs all my programs and I can have PT update every min. I love it. And now dual 20 inch monitors to go. I think this is +EV and paid for itself in a day. Now the added difference is probably gonna take a week or so to pay it off. |

When's a poker site going to come out with a NeXtStep client, anyway?

Re: How powerful is the PC you use to play poker?
I find it interesting how computer advancement has slowed in the last decade. I got mine as a college graduation gift in 2000 (Dell P3 1000, 512 ram) and haven't even thought of replacing it, although I did upgrade from ME to XP.
What happened to the time when computers were obsolete in two years? I think the PC is going the way of the calculator ... pretty soon we'll get a free one for opening up a checking account. |
Re: How powerful is the PC you use to play poker?
P4 2.4
XP Pro 200GB HD 17" and 20" LCDs Probably overkill, but I already had the components so that's what I used to build a separate PC for poker only. I don't like the idea of poker sites poking around in my personal data and porn. |

Re: How powerful is the PC you use to play poker?
actually, while I can 4 table on a nice 2001FP,
I've been enjoying playing one table at a time on a K6/2-350 laptop that only runs 800x600 - In fact, lately I've started tourneys while sitting in the recliner playing Forza Motorsports and I'll hit pause on a straightaway and hit fold for crap hands then keep racing. sometimes when I get bored I pretend I'm James Bond - running for cover but having to look down and punch a button on the computer without crashing.... good fun. CHECK OUT MY COMMODORE 64! IT BLOWS CALLECOVISION AWAY. [/ QUOTE ] No way, man. I 8-table on a 13-inch color TV hooked up to my Texas Instruments 99/4A, with my HH saved to 10-min audio tapes. Someday I hope to spring for the $800 floppy drive expansion that's the size of a portable fridge. [for those under 30...Yes, you really could hook up an old tape recorder to these ancient machines and save 48K or so of data to it. You'd literally have to hit the record button right when you gave the save command...used to take about 5 tries to get it to work w/o errors.] |
