Fun hand reading test

Everyone at table is fishy except for the BB. BB is solid.

2 limpers, I raise with Ks Jd from the button, BB calls, limpers call.

Flop: 7s 9d Tc
BB bets, all call.

Turn: Qc
BB bets, 2 calls, I raise, BB 3bets, 2 calls, I cap, all call.

River: 4c
BB bets, 2 folds, I raise, BB 3 bets, I call.

What was his hand?

Normally I raise this flop. Not sure why I didn't this time.

hi efficacy,

this is a bad beat post. Also, cap the river.

Yes, I admit it is somewhat of a badbeat post... although it was not a bad beat at all as you can see. I also think that handreading part of it was interesting. As soon as I got three bet on the river I was 90% sure I was either splitting with KJ or losing to a straight that made a flush on the river. I think capping the river here is -EV.

Raise the flop for value and a possible free card.

Your outs are too obvious. Even if you just call you cannot expect to raise the turn if you make your hand. Push your small flop edge while you can.

I couldn't agree more. I highly doubt a set would 3-bet this river. You're only going to win outright if Villain has J8. Capping seems to be -EV.
