\"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (11/16) (50/100 NL)

Tonight's show is expected to be their "Whale Game", of 50/100 NL with a 5k max buyin to start, and increases as they lose their chips. The last couple of weeks have featured Ed Shanizarian, a businessman-donk type, win a lot of chips, then leave the game or turn his chips over to an ultra-tight player. Can he do it 3 weeks in a row? Will any 2+2 legends be able to break into the game and take some chips for themselves? Will there be 3 $20k+ pots the first 45 minutes ? You'll just have to tune in tonight and find out. Hopefully tonight's show will start on time (6pm-9pm PT over at www.liveatthebike.com for those that care to take a gander).

which 2+2ers are going to this game?

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (11/16) (50/100 NL)

None that I know of, but in this thread last week, a few were wishing they were in the game. From what Bart told me in his PM, so far it's only just the regulars: Yosh Nakano, "Action Joe" Ngyuen, Vic Park, etc.

If you wanna stake me, I'll drive down there and play.

The min buy-in to this game is about 1/3 of my entire roll.

The Question has to be asked

If they know they are late, wouldnt a little post here be considerate? I would like to see this happen.

Somebody say when it starts.
Do I have to keep restarting the windows media player or will it start playing when it starts? (Right now it just shows a banner for 5 seconds)

Guess they are once again a little tardy.

Kev, I plan on going next Monday. Is there a producer I could ask for to make sure I get on the table? Or can I just ask any floorman?

Just show up like around 4pm.

When I got there, I was the first person on the list. It's in the high limit section, on the board it says LATB and Interest, then talk to the floor person at 5:30pm to see which game they're spreading.

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (11/16) (50/100 NL)

I'd suggest sending a PM to BartHanson or FriarTuck. If they do limit again, they'll probably start the table early (like maybe 5pm PT) and create a board for the show. Or you could do what Surfin did, since he's the one who's actually been on the show.

I like the KK laydown.

Bart, if he calls, what can he beat with that raise seat 7 made???

KK (no spade) v. possible Flush or Set, what's the point???

The only hand he is ahead to is something like AsJx, and it's still a decent chance seat 7 could get there.

There's the Ed regulars know and love, drawing slim and getting there. The over/under on him leaving is about 20 minutes now.

Hey Bart, I know you haven't ever really discussed this topic, but how does running the board multiple times affect the expected value and variance of a hand?

Also: Did they run the board three times like it was nothing?

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (11/16) (50/100 NL)

Is there anything better for a game than a rich businessman gambling it up?

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (11/16) (50/100 NL)

This is hardly a whale game, once Ed leaves in about 3 minutes this table is going to get tight and the pots will most likely stay small.

Let's get Tommy and the Greek poker G-d to put some life in this game

If Ed decides to leave early, it'll be like most of the whale games where the boring business-types "ruin" the game. When the game was 25/50 NL with the 5k cap about 3 weeks ago, it was a much better game as most of those regulars weren't to be seen and you'd have Jonas and a different cast of characters liven up the game.

At least one thread on this already in MH NL PL. EV stays the same no matter how many times you run it and variance is reduced.

Question to anybody -

What did Lederer mean when he said in his More Secrets vid
"...hands have no absolute value in no limit"?

I'm assuming it has to do with the power of the all in move.

HAHAHAH Bart answered. I was kidding. Ya know, since he's offered this explanation every single show they've ever done.

11-16-2005 10:33 PM

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (11/16) (50/100 NL)

running it multiple times was started to avoid losing big pots in cash games by a lucky river card. Its so hopefully the best hand will win more often than not.

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (11/16) (50/100 NL)

I'm thinking it was either 3 or 4 weeks ago in the Whale Game, Jonas really can play some amazing poker at times. His games Friday nights in the "big" 10/20 NL game are worth watching as well.

I'll have to recheck to context perhaps but I do remember him saying that.

Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (11/16) (50/100 NL)

Barron's supposed to be on the show tomorrow, if things can be worked out for him to get there in time. I moved the thread out of the WPT forum basically because it really didnt belong there in the first place. Also, It was an attempt to steer the thread towards more discussing the poker and not go off-topic. Also, it was an attempt to expand the viewing of the show to other forums (as appropriate) since most seem to want to stay far away from the WPT forum.

BART ONE OF THEM CHOPPED (on the Ed Hand 58 vs T8)

THATS WHY. The one with the 5 on the river gave the T8 the same straight 8 high did it not?

First one he lost
Second he won
Third he chopped. (1 card straight was on the board)
