Good call MLB Discuss. [/ QUOTE ] Dean Pritchard: That was interesting. ha ha. Thank you very much. And, uh, your rebuttal… Mr. Carville. James Carville: Oh... It... We... have no response. That was perfect. |

Good call MLB Discuss. [/ QUOTE ] What's to discuss? You summed it up nicely. |
Re: 50-100-Life
if there are morse-type positives, I could see thing getting waaaaaay ugly. Even double jeopardy on this scale sucks.
Also, what's the punishment for something like amphetamines or other potentially enhancing but not steroid drugs? Seems those are awfully low compared to this. |
Re: 50-100-Life
as long as there aren't false positives, i concur.

Re: 50-100-Life
it's too bad bonds will never get busted.

Re: 50-100-Life
How come this decision took so long?

Re: 50-100-Life

[/ QUOTE ]I believe the new agreement covers Amphetamines. As for the other drugs, I assume it covers other items, but some are currently indectible. Its a big step, and I think things can only get better from here. Watch for a ripple effect throughout the other leagues as well, because from what I understand, Congress wants to implement this across the 3 and half major sports here in the U.S. |

Under the new deal, a first positive test for amphetamines will lead to mandatory additional testing, a second offence will draw a 25-game suspension, and a third offence will get 80 games. [/ QUOTE ] linkie |
Re: 50-100-Life
I still think their policy is a joke.
Especially the 'lifetime ban' part. b |
Re: 50-100-Life

Re: 50-100-Life
its not life. its 50-100-2yrs.

why? [/ QUOTE ] Start with the 'lifetime' ban which is just stupid but sounds good term-wise. Wow...a whole 2 years!?! Say it ain't so!!! Also, if they were really serious, it should only take 2 occurences, not 3. But '3 strikes and out' is catchy. pfft I also think it was a waste of tax dollars to get the congress involved. Why fans still put up with MLBs' rhetoric and crap is beyond me. Especially from the owners. Next I'm waiting for all the ones suprised by Ichiro's recent revelation of the Mariners(in todays paper). It's no suprise at all. MLB sucks. b |

As for Ichiro, all I can say is "Thank you", fans are dissapointed too. |

haha, the asterisk will live on
50-100-Life* |
Re: 50-100-Life
It's great.
Maybe next year they'll nab Tejada, Thome, Uribe, Rowand, etc. Pudge got off 'em this year. He actually realized he had a HOF career to ruin. Remember Glenn Bragg, and Ron Gant? God, those guys were juicers. Possibly Felix Jose, too. I used to marvel at Ron Gant's biceps and think, "God that guy must go to the gym a lot." Now I know he both went to the gym a lot, and did steroids a lot. Love the new policy. Maybe some of these bums will retire and give some husting AA player a shot. |

At least it will be harder to break Steve Howe's record for lifetime bans, I guess.
